Re: Project-Atlas
Truck is starting to look killer. What was the main issue when you were running the Carb on the LS? Thanks keep up the great work.

Re: Project-Atlas
I had every problem imaginable with the carb, lean rich, diesling, flooding, ect you could set it up and it would run good for one day or one trip. It would hardly get me home from shows I absolutely hated it. I had 3 other people try to tune it too and they were lost and they were die hard Holley guys I won't buy another one but I would try a quadrajet I like Rochester carbs a lot

Got some goodies tonight! Bought a take off tailgate from a board member and my wheels finally showed up so stoked to get them on!

Re: Project-Atlas
It's looking great, I like it.

Re: Project-Atlas
Very cool. It's going to look like a whole new truck with those wheels. Hurry up and get them on so we can see some pics! ;)

Re: Project-Atlas
I got to find a good shop to mount them up first! I'm holding off until all this paint work is done I'd be the world's saddest guy if they got over spray. Any recommendations on getting them mounted? I saw they recommend touchless mounting but I'm not sure anyone around here has that equipment

Well it was a real ordeal to get them mounted I had 5 shops turn me down altogether. The first place recommended a shop and they were pretty unpleasant on the phone so I tried everything else and finally went there. They didn't want to do them either since they only had an hour and a half before closing but finally agreed. They did a nice job but damn expensive!

Re: Project-Atlas
Those look great! Are you running the same specs front and rear?

Re: Project-Atlas
That is awesome looking, love the new wheels :metal:

Re: Project-Atlas
Yes I'm running the same wheel front and rear 8.5 wide 5.25 backspace and 20" dia they fit perfectly not to pat myself on the back or anything lol

Re: Project-Atlas
I didn't have a choice on mine I have about 1/2" on each side of the rear tires I couldn't have bigger ones if I wanted them lol

Re: Project-Atlas
They do fit very well but I'm tight on the inner bed panel and the inner fender I never cut the inner skin or widened the tubs since I planned on having white walls forever. But I screwed that up!

Since I have tomorrow off I figured I could fool around this evening. I modified a 67-68 hood latch to fit my truck (I like the shape better) and started doing my fauxtina on the tailgate. Still a lot left to do but its a good start

Finally back together I must say I couldn't be happier with the truck it's a blast to drive!

Re: Project-Atlas
Looks great! I love how your LS looks. I'd like to eventually do a swap similar to yours.
|
Re: Project-Atlas
Thank you! I definitely recommend the ls. Wiring is a bit of a pain but they work so good especially if you have someone tune it I did mine and it's actually kind of hard to get everything right and it's still not 100%

Re: Project-Atlas
Read whole build. Great story. Great work. I'll be watchin for more posts.

Had a good weekend with the truck so far I took it out to the drag races but decided to only spectate thankfully. The next day I put it on the lift and found a failing weld on the clutch linkage I built so I fixed that up real nice this time hopefully that's the end of my linkage woes. Still have some odd issues to sort out with the tune. The truck stays on power when you push the clutch in and revves to about 2500 rpm and stays there for about 30 seconds before returning to idle. Hopefully I can figure that out today.
