Erstaunliche Arbeit ist dir gelungen. Ich bin beeindruckt. Was ist Ihre tägliche Arbeit, wenn Sie dies so gut machen? Ich mag die Farbwahl, weil sie anders ist. Der Winter verlangsamt sicherlich meine Fortschritte. Vielen Dank für das Teilen Ihres Builds.

Thank you very much, I was able to retire in 2020 and bought this C10 in the summer of 2020 to do what I enjoy. I was also able to gain initial experience with my 68er Mustang, but it didn't have to be painted and welded.
The welding work was my first time, I had welding skills, but not for that :-) painting is also my first time, it can definitely be done better, but it's okay, I've learned a lot here from the forum, you guys Great, thanks for that. |

Now it's the turn of the frame, the engine and the gearbox had to leave their place, as did the exhaust, the axles stayed in place for the time being, I wanted to clean the whole thing in a washing area. Roughly pre-cleaned for the first time.

The frame has been cleaned and I have an unpleasant surprise with the crack in the frame, there were still some, more on that later. Rear axle removed, it's an 8.5 inch, 10 bolt axle, from a '76 Pontiac, my C10 runs on a 5x4.75 bolt circle, I could identify that with the rear axle code 2.41:1 with Positrack, geared quite long, strange axis.

Removed the '62 front axle, it was still welded to the frame, why? The truck probably had a bad accident and the frame was cut open, straightened and welded again. I reopened the crack, the metal was a good 3mm on top of each other, with a 20t hydraulic ram, I drilled and welded holes in the crack, ground the crack into a V shape and step welded it, for stability, another plate was placed behind it and spot welded, that should hold

I reworked the repair welds again, grinding and rewelding where the welding was not clean, an unfavorable place for stability.
Sanded the frame and set it up with the engine jack for painting, with zinc phosphate rust protection the 1st layer |

Nice project, your metal kills are very good, sheet metal looks amazing...and the color comb is great. Looking good....what's your plan for the axles, I went with a 5 lug from an " 82 " 11 inch discs and the booster from same truck, worked out well. Made a plate to cover double hole from old a master and slave cylinder clutch.

Well I'm from Germany and I was lucky to find a 63 axle, I'm sticking with the 5x4.75 bolt circle because I already have the rims for it, the truck already has PB which works great. The conversion with Dropspindles and the bolt circle is exciting, I will report about it

Exactly, thanks, I got them from the '91 Camaro SS, the bearings fit perfectly for the '73-'87 Dropspindles

I'll write something about assembly again. I can finally screw parts back on, the frame and axles are painted, the trailing arms have new bearings, the Rear Axle is in Place.
The front control arms have new shafts and ball joints. |

Something new from the workshop
My 1962 C10 has axles with a 5x4.75 bolt circle and they have 1" thick brake discs, the trucks usually have 1.25" thick brake discs, also a 5x5 bolt circle, now it should be lower, using Dropspindles. WesternChassis has 2.5" dropspindles for 1" thick brake discs for C10 from the years 73-87. Now you have to dig deep into the Chevy kit to build it on a 63 axle that is installed under the 62. Brake disc comes from the 91 Camaro 1LE, which is identical to the truck brake disc, but has a 5x4.75 bolt circle and the bearings are the same, fits. Ball joints come from 73-87, everything fits in, Chevrolet hasn't changed anything there, has already tested and fits. The tie rods are trickier, on the outside they come from the 73-87, they have a right-hand thread and are 11/16", the 63 outer tie rod has a left-hand thread and is 5/8" thick So the outer '63 tie rod moves inwards and replaces the inner '63 tie rod with right-hand thread. From POL there is an adapter sleeve 11/16" right-hand thread and 5/8" left-hand thread to connect and voila the suspension is ready. Caliper comes from the 70-87 Camaro. The calipers have been revised. All the tips came here from the ChevyTruckforum, thank you again. |

Now it's time to assemble. 2" Drop coil springs were added. Everything fits.. the idler arm from the '63 still has to be adjusted so that the steering can also be installed, it goes on....

Installed my steering today, I described it in the photo, maybe it will be helpful for someone else, to drive 5x4.75 bolt pattern.
