Re: Daverods 52
I want to see your s10 frame set up. So I know what to do to mine when I get to it. Heck you will probably have all 3 of your trucks done before my dime gets bagged.

Re: Daverods 52
That's how I'm thinking of building my lower bars. Except it will be a adjustable rodend on the axle. I already built my notch for it. And I'm using a offset wishbone that I'm gonna build.

Re: Daverods 52
It's see though alright.:lol: Got me a gas hook up for my welder coming and a bottle. Think I'll be doing a lot of welding on my frame.:ito: Ordered a new bed front and 2 rear stake pockets. Took the bed apart. Finished the floors. Need some new bed strips,I'm thinking SS. Need some bed angle pieces that go along the bedside. Not sure how the old ones are going to come off. Still waiting on my frame. Priced a ZR2 posi in IF for 500. They wanted 650 here. Still not sure about the engine most likley 350/350. Seems the easest.

Picked up my frame and got it in its new home. Don't know if it has 2.8l engine mounts or not. Need to know so I can order some new engine mounts. Started cleaning all the crap off the frame. Put up some more wall art.
|
Re: Daverods 52
Yup, those are the 2.8's... using them myself... you may want new ones just due to the fact that they may be old and cracked... and new ones are pretty cheap.
Ted. |
Re: Daverods 52
Cool now I know. Does the 4.3 use the same?
|
Re: Daverods 52
The 4.3 (91) I started with had different ones and the 5.7 (88) were different yet again. The 2.8's were the lowest profile for the price and hence the appeal. I believe you can get a different setup with Energy Suspension and weld them up different. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...55586&cmpid=cj
Think Jeffs51chevy used the ES set in his build. Cheers, Ted. |
Re: Daverods 52
The 4.3 factory mounts are junk and separate easily, the 2.8 are a better design.

Re: Daverods 52
Sooooooooo what's the story????
|
Re: Daverods 52

:smoke:Story is: A bunch of rich potato farmers spent a bunch of their money and a 15 year old kid put a vortec in his old chevy truck.:ito: Then I finished striping my frame and sprayed in down with degreaser, bought some ball joints and calibers put my A arms in my parts washer and then watched UFC. Then I went on Craigs and looked for a S10 with a 4.3 for cheap.

Re: Daverods 52
Should of had a V-8

So when it is wet out , you take your wife's car??????
I always cruise the parking lots too at a show. The true drivers are out in the parking lot. |
Re: Daverods 52
I've got an old Olds cutlass. Good work car, huge trunk, good on gas, dog like it cause it's nice and soft. It likes to get wet. Better show then last year. Had some nice rides. That red truck in the first pic was way cool. Two trucks welded together. Duals in the back, with some super fat lips
|
Re: Daverods 52
Yeah get that 4.3 and send it down here to me. Then get you a gf from one of those potato farmers, and have them get you a 6.0 to put in the 52!
|
Re: Daverods 52
Oh !! I did not know about the cutlass.. We call the contractors that work out of a car --"trunkers" They carry a few tools around and then they borrow ladders from everyone else:lol::lol::lol::lol:
|
Re: Daverods 52
:lol: I have a little gaint ladder it fits in my truck. I can carry about 15 2x4x8's inside the car. OK I'm a trunker.

Re: Daverods 52
It's the helmet.:metal: I should get my gas set this week. That should help also.;) Going to get some metal and fab up some cab mounts this week. Still can make up my mind on a engine.
|
Re: Daverods 52
The helmet make a big difference. You have to see what your doing. :uhmk:
|
Re: Daverods 52
How about a turbo on an inline six????? you try it out so I can follow along!!!
Dare to be rare!!! I saw a 'yota R-22 in a rat rod the other day with the 5-speed . owner says it is great, good MPG and just screams. The valve cover was aftermarket so it was not too noticeable that it was a rice burner :sumo: or a V-6 EFI . try something different. |
Re: Daverods 52
As long as I can do this I'll be happy.:smoke::smoke:
