Re: Viking 60 1959 Rebuild thread
Is the Corvair original paint? Sure looks like it to me, 6100 doesn't seem too bad if it's as good as it looks.

Re: Viking 60 1959 Rebuild thread
Very neat build and can appreciate the work you have put in. Good detail and enjoyed reading through your build. I see some of the part numbers for brake spring parts but am curious if you still have some of the other brake part numbers that you could share.
I have a 1959 Chevy Viking 60 as well, 50,000 miles on it and it has the GM 2 speed rear axle and 15" x 4" shoes in the rear and 15" x 2-1/2" up front. I have the part numbers on the wheel cylinders for front and rear, and see your reference to the springs/parts kit. Just wanting to get whatever parts I can before I tear into mine. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Viking 60 1959 Rebuild thread
sorry it's been two weeks since you posted
Do to the Photobucket Issue My pictures are lost the shoes i had to have made also the drums were turned and Unatanable i was told. The single master cylinder is now $89 on amazon the rubber hoses are same as modern 1/2 ton Steel lines i made up be careful with the spring Kit they fit Kinda the behive springs have a twist that don't quite do it . Just let me know if i can help......S . . I'm in the process of Jin up a new brakes front and SPlitting the Master For safety. Yes they work just not well |
Re: Viking 60 1959 Rebuild thread
Thanks for the reply. I believe I have all parts numbers chased down with exception of the shoes. Did you have to re-line your or were you able to buy new shoes complete? Even if you couldnt get them do you know the original part numbers for the shoes front and rears?
