Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I have the patience for body work. It just takes me too long. I want it to come out perfect. To me it's like sculpture. It's an Art. You can't rush Art.
Who the hell is Art?. Art who? :haha: |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Looks like you are on the right track now. You don't know how PO'd i get when I hear about shops ripping people off. Its hard enough to stay in business and then have companies doing shoddy work and thieves to boot. We have plenty of them in the Houston area to. I've heard this kind of stuff for years now. You generally get what you pay for however sometimes this kind of crap happens. That door looks like it was someones first attempt at welding and I would have fired the person that did that. That was not a body shop it went to.

Thats the problem I had and had for years. They told me my problem was that I would stop and stare and admire my work too long. You just have to learn to do it right and go on to the next step and keep going. I still have the problem but have gotten better at it:lol: You can't waste time. |

I did get the parts truck cab off the of the frame along with straightening up the shop. At least when you bring your cab I can sit it on the parts truck frame to mock everything up. I was too pooped to do anything else tonight. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC00304.jpg |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
That truck would look really good with a Impala dash in it. Just trying to get you some more work Allan.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Alan if that cab was a BBW I would take it off your hands. My cab is almost trashed!

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
At the LA Roadster Show Swap Meet I saw a 56 Chevy dash for only $60.00 I was tempted, but didn't buy it. Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have. I already have a billet gauge housing for after market gauges left over from my 56 Belair. :waah:
Check out the LA Roadster Show pictures. Lots of trucks were there. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...36#post3373336 |

Decided to guide coat one more time instead of wasting filler. Several areas blocked out. I went to wipe a few areas and didn't mix it hot enough due to it being cooler tonight. :dohh: It should dry , but I didn't want to wait for it too so I called it a night. I also worked .5 hours today at work grinding and working dents out of one of the inner bed panels (no charge). http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00316.jpg 14+1.5=15.5 .5 no charge Not in total |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I say go with fleet tail lights in the fenders.....

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I'm glad to see your truck and this site got ya work Alan. You deserve it from what I know of ya. When you think about it as far as the truck goes your dirty underwear is out there for all to look at.
Hell, If you referred prospective clients to the site it's the best or worst reference one could have, it don't lie. In your case it's the best. |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Man, I swear that I recognize that truck and the place that it's at... The truck's coming along great!

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Two days in the sun and it's sandable.:metal: I was worried I did'nt want to start over or have to scrap it all off. I did try the blade just long enough to learn that it would suck to have to scrap it all off. ;)

This is as far as I got tonight. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...s/DSC00344.jpg Tonight spent 2.5 on bedside fender and .5 on RT front fender. 15.5+3=18.5 |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
It sanded good still needs some work on the top part. Spending most of my time working on my bedsides what a mess. They drilled holes to do bodywork? They never pulled the metal out far enough if at all and they never welded the hole back up. So all around the holes its rusted. Makes it a pain to weld shut. Question for ya. Why do you weld the seems shut on the bed/hood. It seems like you could just use seam sealer? I welded the end of my bedsides but not the seams down the sides becauses I was'nt sure how to grind the welds down.:uhmk: I've got my bedside close to being done should I skim coat the whole thing again?;)
