Re: My Daughters First Truck
I just watched the latest video. The girl rocks. I can't wait to sneak in behind her and hit the blue lights and siren. I know I'll take a beating but it will be worth every bruise.

Re: My Daughters First Truck
That's on you with the beat down she will give you. Post some pics of Jeds rig.

Re: My Daughters First Truck
Just showed this tread to my 9 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son, They LOVED it!!
I think it's really cool what you're doing. Working on the truck together, bonding in a way that is really different. Working together while bonding makes it stronger. It's good to know that she is the future of America. We need more like her, and you too, for bringing her up in this fashion: a love of family and old trucks. |

We got to work on Darrah's truck tonight. Got the fender finished and ready to hang. :metal:
Put the fender and passenger door on, they lined up pretty good but need some more work. Enjoy the pics. |

Looks like things lined up nicely. |
Re: My Daughters First Truck
Thanks
Everything lined up ok except the top of the door, |
Re: My Daughters First Truck
Cool project and even cooler doing it with your daughter. My youngest is 14 And I had a 66 step side but she is too short to drive it. We are looking for something to work on over the summer that she can reach the pedals and see over the dash. She is only 4"6'' a little vertically challenged. Keep her interested in that truck and you guys will always remeber these times:metal:

Re: My Daughters First Truck
Funny you say that. My oldest daughter is 20 and she's 4'9" and she won't even try Darrah's truck she complains when she has to drive my Sonoma

Not a big truck like ours, but still smart looking classics !!! |
Re: My Daughters First Truck
She sat in a GEO Tracker and can reach everything and likes the idea of taking the top off this summer. If anyone has one of these let me know..has to be automatic. Not as cool as a Chevy truck but it will be good on gas.

Re: My Daughters First Truck
Awesome to see this. A friend of mine just gifted me a '66 C10 LWB. Surprisingly my 15 year old son has gotten really excited about fixing this up for him to drive. I talked him into us flat blacking it and making it look old school.

Little update.
Last month Darrah and I were selling some stuff at the swap meet at the Super Chevy Show and Darrah did some trading with another guy selling there and scored a nice old Firestone bike. She has also been saving and bought a couple things. A working radio and a set of port-a-walls. I know a lot of folks are not fans of the port-a-walls, So please do not post negative comments here. Thanks, David |

Porta-walls
Not mounted yet but will look good. |
Re: My Daughters First Truck
My new favorite build thread, love your daughters joyful smiling face! Hope you are keeping the 6 cyl, love the 6's. I have a 283, but if I ever do another one it will be a 6 for sure.

Re: My Daughters First Truck
This is awesome, It is great to see Darrah right in there sanding and grinding! This truck will mean so much more to her than just a vehicle.
I just found out that my uncle is going to be giving me his 1975 Honda enduro motor cycle that will be a common installation in the bed as well. That Firestone bike is awesome! |

My daughter doesn't know it yet, but I am going to let her drive my truck tomorrow!
|
Re: My Daughters First Truck
nothing negative because i like whitewalls myself...back when i had my '93 C-1500, i was contemplating running Port-a-walls to add to the old school theme i had...however, many folks told me it simply won't work well with radial tires....not sure if ya'll are running them on radials, but i would definitely be interested in knowing how it works out for ya
|
Re: My Daughters First Truck
I think those white walls will look nice on it. tell her nice scores! That bicycle looks really nice for it's age!
