Thanks guys!

I used to not be so clean with my work. My friends would tease me saying i wasnt finished with my project until every tool i own was out. I found it to be less hectic if i spent 10 minutes cleaning up after myself whenever i work.

I work for a utlity company in indianapolis, indiana. I am a construction manager on an 18 foot diameter tunnel that is being constructed 250 feet below ground.

I like to keep my mind working, this project helps out with that for sure.

Ive had a number of project cars. This is the third chassis swap ive performed.

The first was a 1951 dodge pickup on a 1996 s10 chassis

The second was a 1949 studebaker truck on a 1999 dodge dakota rt chassis.

Both projects were fun, the studebaker was a blast to drive, but i have a wife and two kids, so we couldnt all ride together. I figured building an SUV would allow me to enjoy my build with my family.

I've said that about NASCAR too. Old 50's&60's body style with new safety features.

I took the day off today to concentrate on getting the steering column mocked up. I had to move the column a few inches inboard to line up with the pedals and driver seat. Im pretty happy with the outcome. I tossed in my gauges just to see how it would look.

Any updates for the new year?

Eagletucky 01-02-2016 10:54 AM

Re: 1966 Suburban...Sort of...Trailblazer SS SWAP

Sure!

Im still working on tying in all of the suburban body to the trailblazer floor. Ive made it to the firewall, i only have one piece left, and that will be done. Im still just tacking panels in, so i will have a ton of welding to do once i get everything tied. Ill be moving on to the front end this weekend. I ordered new front fenders as mine were too bad to repair, so i can start mockup on those once they arrive. Ill post up a pic or two later this weekend. Thanks for the inquiry, and happy new year!

I made some good progress today, i was able to trim the areas of the TBlazer that interfered with the suburban sheet metal. This is just a basic mockup, but a big step for me, as i was unsure if the TBlazer radiator could live within the space given. It does, so im pretty happy!!

Thanks Bomp!

Now i just need someone to show me how to pound out a dent! No kidding, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: 1966 Suburban...Sort of...Trailblazer SS SWAP

get a hammer and a dolly. HF is good enough to start.. If you hit them together, it'll expand (stretch) your metal. if you hit them near each other, you can push the dent back up. Get this book- The Key to metal bumping. East wood has it, among others. A great starting point.
