Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks guys!
What's going on with your truck Paul? Why did you sell the motor and trans? Cap, the booster bracket looks and fit awesome, thanks for the superb part! |
Re: '63 GMC Project
well the project is being scraped. I've sold off almost all of my stuff from it. I'm getting out of the Army at the end of the money, and trying to sell my house, so I need to the money.
I'm going to keep the cab so that i can work on it and practice my skills on it. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Man, that sucks. Good luck with everything though.

I want to mount my alternator down low on the passenger side of the motor. Does anyone know of a mounting bracket or easy mod to do this? |

Love it.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks guys!
I may try out an Optima battery later and paint the case to look like a 6 pack of "beverages". Not sure though because I don't know if it would even be visible and 2 friends of mine have had bad luck with Optimas. I don't think the cooler is air tight so the gasses should be able to escape around the top where the lid closes. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Dude it looks sic. I've only had good things with my Optimas. I still have the first style they made in my trucks now. Been over 7 years now.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Did you find out what the deal was with the bumper brackets? I am getting ready to order front and rear bumpers and rear brackets for my 63'
Your truck is looking close, and it looks sick man. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks!
I don't know for sure what the deal is with the rear bumper. I don't know how far out they should be but my bed is about 1" from the cab so I am going to try and slide the bed forward about a 1/4" and see how it looks. |

My new shiftknob came yesterday...
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
haha thats cool
is it drilled and tapped already? |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Whoa, awesome.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
Oh ya, I checked my rear bumper with the new brackets and it's about 3/8 off the box.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
Yeah it's an actual shiftknob, not something I'm making into one. it comes drilled out and a threaded insert pressed in. It also comes with a adapter of your choice. I got it here. hotrodshiftknob.com. Check out the link to House O' Speed while you're there. Thier logo has a 64-66 Suburban on it.
Thanks for the measurement Delmo! I really appreciate it. |

The camel spider is pretty cool, we used to make them and scorpians fight in Iraq. That's a small one, and those things could run like the wind.

Re: '63 GMC Project
My seat is just about ready to go in, just need to tidy up the inside a little. We got the motor fired for the first time also and it sounds really good, little bit of lope to the cam. Tomorrow I'm taking the driveshaft to get shortened. It's getting really close now. Hopefully I will be able to drive it to the last show of the year in 2 weeks.

Re: '63 GMC Project
Truck looks sweet love the icebox mod for the battery.. If thats thermo tec header wrap on your headers it will rust the header tubes away or at least it did on my truck..
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
im sure u mentioned this before but where did u get all of ur suspension stuff, it looks sick and im looking at all possible options for bagging my truck
nice bulid too, i like when people lay the longbeds in the weeds |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks guys.
The header wrap is DEI Titanium. Don't know how good it is but it looks cool and doesn't need sprayed or coated at all. The air ride is a P-51 crossmember kit for the front and a Superlift wishbone kit for the rear, both made by *****************. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Looking good
What alternator bracket is that? I'm curious since it is a passenger side with a short water pump. Speaking of alternator, it is me or is there something wierd in this pic? http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...1&d=1285514558 I'm seeing 2 belts on the alternator, but only one makes it to the water pump and crank pulley  |
