Pulled the heater core as it was leaking. Got another on the way to my sister and send it to the radiator shop along with a new temp.control. Should take care of the leak.

Did you find a new Ranco valve (temp control) somewhere?

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

I keep forgetting to take pictures.
Licence plate is on at least the rear.
Installed the cheap tach.
Front fenders are patched.
Working on the GPS spedo. got the bracket made.
Bought the lug nuts for the wheels ( still need to get the tires).
Little bit at a time.
Now we just need some nice weather and take it for the first real drive over here.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Nice looking project man! I had a set of those wheels on a truck years ago and 2 sets of caps worked out for me, one was just 4 of the stock rear enclosed caps that would have came on those (they bolt straight to wheel) but they are pretty long and stick out and say 4x4 right on them (which I painted over). The second set were a lower profile center cap from a early 90's chevy 2500 2wd 6 lug truck and they were type that the lug nuts had threads on outside and center cap fastened to the lugs themselves not the wheels. I do not have pics unfortunately due to computer crash years ago with most of my old pics.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Thanks for the kind words.
I found some repop plastic that are on the way.
Just plain knock off caps.
Slowley coming along.

Little bit more done.
Astro van front driver seat.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

It looks like that fits fairly well. How is the height for sitting?

sirJim 09-30-2018 02:15 AM

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

They fit pretty good.
I need to drive it a bit more to figure out height.
It makes it a bit close with the stock steering column, with a tilt no problem.
I will probably drop it down about an inch, have to wait and see.

Went into hibernation for the winter:b69: cant wait for spring.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Do you have any upgrades to the Burb planned for the winter?

sirJim 11-03-2018 03:20 AM

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

It will have to wait til spring I have it hibernating at a friends place just to keep it warm and dry. About 2 hour drive one way but free. Planning on doing the rockers and bit on the floor kick panel area front passenger seat and see what else shows up. I thought I had a T5 from a 88 F body but dident work out. Makes it difficult not having a dismantling yard closer. Everything has to be transported to a container then shipped then customs 2 months later I get to play. I am thinking a T5 1352-176 or a 1352-196 would fit the Burb perfect. Problem is they areŽnt around for a couple hundred so they end up under a grand here. Be nice if I could bring one home in my suitcase.

I sympathize with you guys in that part of the world not having somewhat easy access to parts for your trucks. It is getting tougher here for some parts as so many people are so willing to scrap 'old junk' cars and trucks and send them to China.

Yea most of what got brought over even in Sweden is getting sent back to the states because there just are not that many left. We just have to keep them alive.

Cool 'Burb!

I just read through your build thread and saw you are from Danmark. My Pops is from Danmark. I still have cousins over there but my bestefar, bestemor, and aunts and uncles have all passed away.

Sub'd for future updates from a half breed here in the States. 😎

Yep

Last time was in '98. I got to see my Aunt in Soro? And my other aunt just south of Alborg. I went back in '85 as well but I was pretty young on that trip.

Been slowly starting up after the winter. Got the heater all fixed up new ranco valve in and all is good again. Got the passenger seat from the Astro van in as well. Been working on a buddys 62 stepside most of the winter, he is getting it ready for the customs evaluation and then the tax, hopefully the same as mine.
