What your doing should be fine. How long did your concrete guy tell you to keep vehicles off of it? Make sure it is fully cured before putting a lot of weight on it.

Good news ! county came by on Friday and signed off on my final . Which surprised me cause the grade is not done but hey I am so o.k. with not having the county around ! Actually they were very good. Hope I can still make it thru that concrete to finish my relief cuts its been sooo cold around here I have been slacking . Not to mention our furnance in the house went out , getting replaced tomorrow. Bishop my salesman told me 1 week to stay off the slab , but I am waiting the whole 28 days and hopefully I will have a half decent day in Feb. to seal it , maybe Sillyoldman will come by and help and can get his saw back  Oh bad news look what I found in our house garage YUK rotten wood , got my work cut out for me !

Re: Digging Holes For Shop Today!

I agree with you, I'd stay off of it the whole month untill it was completely cured and sealed. That sucks about the wood rot in your house garage, some how I got pushed in to doing woodrot repair for a few months for this guy I used to sub work off of. Once you start cutting out you seem to find more. Good luck with that.

Anywhere there is concrete should be pressure treated lumber. Hard to tell from your pictures where all the concrete is. Have fun. I was on a job of a 12 year old house which was rotted top to bottom. This was a 3 story house. Ripped all the siding off the back, and lightwell and all the stucco off the front. I think we replaced about 50% of the framing also.

Re: Digging Holes For Shop Today!

I like the shop . I hope you went ahead and put cureing compound on the floor after they finished power trouling the floor . I do all of our homes we build put on the carport floor as soon as its sets . it will keep the concrete looking like it was just poured and any oil or what ever gets on it wont soak in the concrete . I get mine from the concrete plant . keep up the post :cong:

Actually thought about adding a toilet and sink , just more $ (that I don't have) . I don't mind adding them later if I find I really want them.
The sink would be an easy add but not sure where to put it ? If I added a toilet it would go upstairs , but as of this time I have no upstairs
Its hard enough to determine where to put my outlets !

Oh I ran a HO car or two into the wall/floor in my day with a set-up like that without guardrails; seeing your boy with the track set-up brings back alot of memories.....

Fast forward over a year and its still not done
Now I am trying to figure how to frame up an inside wall(seems stupid since I have walls already) so I can insulate. I did not want to have any fiberglass touching metal so I added 1/2" styrofoam to the girts and then I'll frame up and add insulation if I don't start another project in between.

Check out the pictures, ideas welcome

my only issue is you built it in the wrong spot. it should be 1547 miles to the south east. LOL

have you thought about adding more windows? I think it would save on electricity.

I thought I was only 1546.95 miles to the south east.
Maybe someday on the windows for now its not in the cards.
I did pick up a new sign for the shop today.
Also grabbed a roll up man door that I got free from work. My lucky day!

Thanks for the reply's I really like my shop I just wish I had the money to finish it before I packed it full of "stuff" and dug into the projects.
Sure makes it hard to do upgrades in the shop while stumbling over things.
As you can see in my latest change. I am getting too old to work in the cold.
My goal is to have the 2 bays sealed off and insulated to give my little G73
heater half a chance.
Made slider doors or I should say I hired a guy to help me.(I helped him:lol:)
I'm a do it yourselfer but for speeds sake it was nice to just have it done.

A little effort on the projects then a little effort on the shop. Back and forth,
back and forth. I suppose as long as I'm making steps in the right direction thats the important thing. Some sheetrock work today.
Used the engine hoist as a helper as well as some 2by's here and there.
Had a piece of sheetrock over my head and could not reach my screw gun.
Cell phone came in handy. "Honey can you come out in the shop?";)

Small bits of progress here and there. Already the doors and sheetrock work have made it heat faster and I have yet to close the doors and seal up many gaps. Pretty happy so far.
The one slider door was pretty warped so I dug up some 'stuff' I had laying around and made a bump out roller to push the door away from the sheetrock.
Added hardi board for the bottom 1 foot of my wall to protect against wet cars draining on my shop floor. (Seattle area)
Will cover that with tile.

Well those things aren't really overrated as they look. The shop can be the ones just to control them.

Your garage is turning out so cool maybe I should move my projects to your digs! :haha:

Brad, I still have a fair-sized stack of Milgard vinyl sound-abatement windows
(new and never installed) that I'll be getting gone ASAP.

If you plan on someday installing more windows, you are welcome to any you
think you can use. PM me if you are interested.

Keep up the good work!

Shop progress has been slow. Real slow. So many half done projects it amazes even me. ;)
Took out some retirment money(whos going to retire anyway LOL) and poured a slab out front of one bay big enough for jr. to be able to play some BB with his friends. Also did a sidewalk from the house to the shop.
(never mind the mess, just finished pour)

Now I have some very torn up yard to deal with, but no more muddy shoes
walking back and forth from the shop in the long rainy fall/winter/springs we have.
