Got AC compressor installed, main unit mounted with block off plates bolted up. Defrost hoses and main controls reinstalled. Should be hanging the condenser and underhood parts this evening. Been sidetracked with Sunday family duties lol.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Spindles/springs and new CPP sway bar installed. Repacked bearings while I was at it, cleaned and painted a few pieces, not going crazy with that, but while it's apart, why not right. I also stripped the painted center on my fender emblems, not sure of I like the look, but I'll let it ride for a while n see how I feel.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Looking good! Reminds me a lot of my old pale yellow '72. When I first got it, I couldn't wait to paint it, but it does grow on you... Always wanted to do the '68 swap, but never got around to it. You thinking of using 67-68 side trim? <-- would be sick. Watching this one for sure :chevy:
Here's what yours could have looked like--I like your wheel choice :) http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ps820d3a46.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Working a turnaround at work makes it though to squeeze in an hour or two at night, but I got a few more things done, some small stuff like new fuel neck grommet and some tidy up stuff. Did alot of tool cleaning and stuff, had to work on getting clearance for my sway bar because it was hitting my tie rods, blah blah, but got the drivers door aligned and the drivers fender on. Everything is pretty straight, but I won't know how well I've done till that hood goes on. I pick that up from the body shop Monday. They had some trash in it and the grill so they kept em to re shoot them. Hope to get on the rear suspension tomorrow.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Thanks gringo, your Blazer in yellow is one of the motivating reasons to stay with the yellow lol. I really like this dumb color for some reason. And Shawn, I got no choice but to keep it up. I'm driving it to Cruzin The Coast October 11. It's got to be finished but this damn turnaround is killing me. It's gonna last until the beginning of October!

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
What are you doing with the rear suspension?
Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
New 5" springs, 2" blocks, notch, no limit shock relocator, porterbuilt adjustable panhard and maybe the CPP trailing arm crossmember if I have the time, but I'll have to cut up my exhaust if I'm gonna do that so it may be a project for a later date.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Anybody know what could have been welded to the frame here? One of the POs cut it off and left some remnants to be ground off.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Must have been some car springs out back before, this alone should improve the handling I would think.

Yeah, it was pretty bouncy, I knew something was not right when I took the top off and it lifted about 2-3 inches lol.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
One step forward and 2 steps back lol. Got my springs, blocks and No Limit lower shock relocators mounted. The CPP notch is in, but the Porterbuilt panhard bar doesn't fit with the notch or the shock relocator..... And I already removed the stock panhard upper mount before I realized it, yeah. If anyone wants the PB panhard, powdercoated Wet Black, I taking offers hahaha. Anyway. Looks like I'll bolt up and run the stock bar until I've got time to order the one from Rob. Oh, the shocks I had would have been the right length, but the bushings are the wrong size for the mounts, so new shocks are added to the list. Anyway, I had to bolt up the shoes and set her down to see what ride height looked like, so here ya go.

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Ok, so I dropped the tank tonight for access and found this. The vent line going to the filler neck had the sealant broke loose and the other small vent (which is plugged off along with the vent on the passenger side btw) had popped loose as well. What's the right thing to do here?

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
You've got a good looking Blazer here!
|
Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
IMHO I would just replace the tank! To me the peace of mind of having a clean new tank would be worth the cost.
|
Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
Just didn't know if this was common or not. The rest of the tank is solid w/o a bit of corrosion. Everything in the pic is just dirty undercoating. Wonder how long it'll take to get a new tank in!!

Re: Brewing up some Pale Ale
I've never done this, but I would just try to seal it up with some type of sealant that's resistant to gas and gas fumes. Given there's no corrosion, I don't think there's a need to drop $ on a new one.
