Any advice from members like you is greatly appreciated (execpt for your small block theory!). A huge majority of the individuals on this forum are light years ahead of me with a wealth of knowlege that i would love and be honored to tap into as my build progresses... thanks again man

Has taken 77 hours to get to this point. I figure it will be another 3 or so hours to weld together depending on how much the frame wants to flex and oil can. Id love to complete it all together ready to powder coat in 90 total hours...

Haha thanks man! Yea ive basically become best friends with a bench grinder. All of the notches are done free hand so as the project went along you learn some tricks. Primarly whatever you think you need to take off, material wise, grind off about half and test fit haha!
The car if its blue is a 71 challenger rt with a 383 stroker. If its a truck then its a 59 chevy fleetside with a crate 350 regardless thanks!

I know about take about half off other wise you end up with a pile of tubing that is worthless to anyone other than the scrap pile. Yeah, it was the Challenger. I'd love to have one some day!

Haha! Yea i learned from the first messup to always cut the long pieces first that way if and WHEN you mess up you can use that piece on a short piece.

Re: 540 BBC 68 Burb Dually 54" Boggers on Rocks

So started welding the chassis together and its just taking a bit of time cause just want to make sure it doesnt warp real bad by heating up. So the technique is just weld a few joints then do some body work and let it cool down. When body filler is applied while waiting for it to harden weld a little bit more ect.

In the mean time i transfered the body from my house where alot of the work was done to it and brought it over to my friends shop so that i would have a bigger spot to work on it as well as making the chassis mating alot easier.

Im pretty open minded on it. I know i dont want the perrywinkle purple anymore lol, I was thinking like a gun metal grey so somthing along those lines. I just wanna do a simple paint job thats not too flashy but still looks decent and doesnt take away from the truck in general.

Im definatly open to any paint scheme ideas so shoot them my way!

something very similar to this... You could do the gunmetal gray with the rivetted panels look. On something this big and awesome, I think it would fit perfect.

Haha there you go! A paint scheme like that would definatly be sweet! Probally be best to do it as a vinyl wrap due to cost time and the risk of wanting to change your mind eventually!
The color i was thinking was doing a 2 tone between kobalt blue and gun metal grey. I wanna powder coat my chassis gun metal grey to match the wheel color. That would make me wanna do the bottom half of the truck in kobalt blue. Then right at the first swooping body line right at the door handles i would bring the rest of the cab up with gun metal grey including the roof.
I was also think of doing the apillars between the doors in black and doing real tinted windows making it appear as one giant piece of glass! So just to clarify, the front apillar intfront of the window vent on the drivers side door and passenger front door would be gun metal grey and the middle apillars would be like a jet black... make sense? Shoot me some ideas!

So i made my chassis a little bit too tall. The worst part is i knew that i was doing it but kept going which makes me the most mad haha. So im having to go back and modify it a little bit. Not a big deal, just a set back that i wasnt expecting... Ill throw up some pics here in a bit.

I saw said 93 dually fenders? chevy dodge or ford? I am getting ready to build my low dually (only running 35's or 37's) I just need to know what fenders you had for sure. then the rest is up to the body man! lol

Awesome build!

Hey chris! I just responded to your question on youtube haha. Ill send ya a P.M. with all the details n such but in a nutshell im not using the ones you see on the truck cause with the 54" boggers they end up being not wide enough and the length didnt work out. So i made some out of sheet metal and sofar they have taken a whole damn 4x8x.16ga sheet to make! lol Hope to work somthing out! Oh yeah and thanks for taking intrest in the truck.

There all on my phone! Ill transfer them to a computer here in a bit. So just as an update, ive put the frame together as one piece. Welded in a buncha crossmembers, and have motor and mid mount plates for the engine and trans to solid mount everything.

I also moved my stuff back to my house from the shop i was working at, was just a little bit of a trek away and i barely got to see my wife anymore! At least with it at my house she can sweep the floor and choose what radio station every once and a while haha.

Project is coming along just is a daunting task.

Ok so heres the hang up i was talking about. When i got finished welding in one side of my frame i cut the tacks off and it sprung up significantly off the table. I knew at that point that the frame had gotten too hot and warped so heres a few pics of the first hiccup haha. I woulda taken more but i was in a bad mood from it warping after the first one didnt even though i tried to be very sporatic with my welds. Eh owell. I just gotta make sure the bows are going opposite directions so i can pull them back together

So the problem now was the bottom part of the frame where the bottom links mount up are too tall. The only part that upsets me is that i knew it in the back of my head the whole time but still kept building around it haha. So i just had to cut the top part off and deal with it.
