where is the part that we have to trim on post 61 is it just grinding down a little bit or do we have to cut it?

the peice he circled is what needs to be cut off and threw away. look @ video number 3 @ 1:58 minutes. that is the peice that attaches the glass to the track on the regulator.

also, when your @ the glass shop make sure to pickup a couple feet of window tape. it is used to put the glass into the peice your reffering too.

o okay i get it now i was wondering where that went lol anyways would you happen to have any extra parts laying around for me to be able to complete my windows like the extra part that has to get welded where the wheels are. If you don't mind shipping it to me ill pay for it if you want.

I just watched all the videos and my questions were answered, good job. Did you say you were going to make a pdf file of the glass template? I assume the glass mounts in the same location on the track relative to the rear side of the door with the extra glass just hanging out the front end?

One thing you might want to do is cover your glass with some shelf paper. It's low tack and peels off easy when your done. It will save you from any scraches.

Sal's '55 Chevy 11-11-2009 09:38 PM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

where can you get that? I have started to rip everything out my door and noticed that the glass is actually two like glued together i founf that pretty interesting for the eng. of that time lol

Did you get my PM ?? I'm on board for this!!! Lemme know how to get all the goodies from you.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Grimss is going to up load the template in a PDF file so we don't have to mail it out because we have so many people wanting it. Plus for people in the future. This could go on for a long time, and could run in to problems down the road. he said he will get it done next week. If he can't, we will go back to the old way. Brian

If you want the chrome beads on the felts like grimss has, call up Fannin Auto Glass in Springfield, Mo @ 417-869-4096

the track that holds the glass in is Y630P-96. you will need two of these, in 8 foot sticks.

the felt sweepers are YM54R-96 HALF-GUIDE. these come in 8 foot sticks i think, but one isnt enough.

didnt check their prices, but im sure they will be better. the glass shop i used probably isnt set up for shipping this stuff. if you can go to a car show or swap meet you can pick the stuff up for 10-15 bucks a stick instead of 25-30.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

about how long did it take for anyone to get their glass done and to them. Because i been going around and everyone keeps telling me two weeks or a little less for the temp glass. Did anyone use laminated glass?

blackdiesel 11-14-2009 03:14 PM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

2 weeks around here, is the norm. grandpa had laminated in his and broke them both over time, we had some tempered made for him, its alot harder to brake.

OrrieG 11-14-2009 04:15 PM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Tempered take longer because the glass has to be cut to size then tempered. If you are not in a large metro area it usually has to be shipped to a factory that has the oven to do it. Even though the Boise area has over 500,000 population all tempered glass for buildings has to go to SLC for tempering.

I have the window template scanned and where you can print it out and put together. Need a place that I can upload the PDF files to. They are in a zip file and are 9 files. Any clues where to host them?

bensimmons_05 11-18-2009 09:46 AM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Have you tried uploading them using this site to host? the attachment window says it will handle a 100kb zip file. If you split it up it may work?

Ben

It sounds like they are in pieces? If you can get a full size to me by mail, I can scan it on my big scanner and have files that someone could take to a blueprint store or kinkos and get printed on one sheet. I can scan max 42" wide x as long a paper is.

GRIMSS 11-18-2009 07:09 PM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

PM me your email and I'll send you the file. Not everyone will have places to go and have it printed on 20 x 28 paper, so I made it where anyone with an 8.5 x 11 printer could do it.

If you can do it in one file I would be glad to host that one as well.

Here is the link to the page.
http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.c...ecewindow.html

There is a Zip that contians the 9 files or you can download each file or one large format file that prints off on a plotter or other large format printer at Kinko's or Office depot.

I would reccomend that if you use the large format that you download the Print_me_first page along with the large format so you can verify the scale.
The Zip has the print_me_first in it.

Thanks, I just downloaded your zip file and then printed the files of my printer worked perfectly and your instructions are very easy to follow. Thanks again.

GRIMSS 11-18-2009 11:19 PM

Re: 55-57 one piece windows

Main thing to do is make sure the scale is correct and line up the cross hairs.
