Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

Pics, pics, pics, lol. Well I put her down on all fours and found out some more trimming was needed on the rear fenders. Also switched out my rear end for one out of a 71. I needed a wider rear for my wheel fitment. Its amazing what that extra width does for the look of your wheels. I had already had every thing welded up and mounted on the narrow rear... So I had to cut it all off and reinstall it on new one. I made some new saddles for the Ta mounts. The rear was set up for a leaf spring rear, and I am switching the rear disc brakes over. So a couple of steps back but it will be worth it. I'll post pics today.

well I have a few update pics. I have redone a bunch of stuff and made changes for the better. My Accuair was delivered this week, a new rear end is going in. I had to change the rear and go with the wider one so that my wheels will fit better. I got a set of centerline smoothies, tires next week. I want to go with the 255/40/20 or the 255/35/20.... its amazing how much of a diff in price between the two sizes. I also got some pics of the axle brackets I made for the ta's. I injured my ankle this weekend playing bball. I guess I am not as young as I think... LOL. Looks like I fractured it or its a severe sprang.... the bruze is wicked, I think the purple ankle looks kind of crazy.
Inner fenders on the rear have been trimmed out for clearance. I hope to get the rear in and all set up this weekend.

ok some updates. Tires are mounted and ready to bolt on...or so I thought. All the hubs have to be machined down for the caps to fit on. One thing or the other it seems like. Also found out my shocks are holding me up about 2 inches... so the search begins for better shocks. I got the right front clearenced and the cap on, now three more to go. LOL. My Air Zenith compressor and Accuair manifolds are in. I guess I have enough to keep me busy. Jeff has my drive shaft on the way so if I stay busy it should be rolling here soon.
Later guys.

ok so the last two days I have been able to work on her a little bit. I got it all put back together, bolted on the wheel and rolled her out of the garage for the first time in a LONG time. The rear looks good all the way down. I have to see if about getting a little more lift out of the rear... she does not get very high, but gets down there. The front is another story... sits WAY too high. I already have a 1.5 sectioned crossmember if I want to put that in. Also thinking maybe a Z? I dont have the $$$ for a dropmember right now. It would be cool if the rear and front mached with PB stuff.... but not a bag of worms I want to open right now.
Here are some pics.
first pic is the full dump
second is front all the way up
third is ride height

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

looks good man! maybe you could cup your lowers...that would help some. but i think a z will be cheapest solution at getting an even drop.

Clearance on the cupped lowers is a concern to me Kevin. I've heard some horror stories.

hey..any updates?

did you ever figure out if your going to change your rear airbags? i just switched mine to over axle setup this past weekend and im in the same boat. it gets super low but the lift isnt great. i really dont want to ride around with like 90 psi in the rear lol

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

Well I have been busy on it but not in picture worthy stuff. Just centering the wheel, making a TON of adjustments and stuff like that. I am going to run a 2 inch spacer under my rear bags. That will be plenty for me. I got my air zenith comp bracket welded up, tank mounting location fabbed up and working on plumbing. Nothing exciting except for each step gets me closer.

well here are some pics of the stuff Ive been working on. I have the comp mounted, tank mounted, and the rear brakes installed.I still have to make some hold down brackets for the rear brake lines. I need to figure out the emergency brake cable hold down tabs...
As I look at what the exhaust is going to look like.... its is going to be TIGHT!!! Now if I dump it before the rear tire should be a lot easier. I also have the rear spacers fabbed up for my bags.

tinking along... SLOWLY lol

Ive also got to figure out my filler neck tube. Looks like the angle wont let me just shorten the factory one down. I was looking into a fule door swap from a newer vehicle so I could also get a fuel door.

well Ive got a small couple of things done. I have been swamped at work this week and helping my wife build a new set for the kids at work. She is a kids pastor at our church and is changing all the sets and props for her program. I have built a replica C130 jet after the Blue Angles. Its wing span is 26 feet, 7.5 feet high, and 6 feet wide.... its has been crazy.

I have my bag spacers made and installed. I also made the harness to wire up my Accuair manifold to an AVS 7 switch box. It took some figuring out to find the correct male plug. After some research found out its a Molex brand plug. Create an account, sign up as a distributor and vioala... Molex male plug and supplies in the mail.
Here are some pics... I like to keep it simple and clean as possible.
Later guys.
Juan

Ok here we go. It seems like this summer just flew by. Had a million things come up and I got side tracked on the burb. I needed some motivation to get back on it so this is what I did. I contacted Joseph Durant with Eastside Design Lab and started working on a rendering. Joseph is awesome!! His mind seems to run a million miles a minute. He helped me get some stuff figured out with color and body mods. Had a 30 min conversation with him, he checked out my build and got started. This is what we came up with. I was thinking of a diff shade of blue but when I saw this one I was sold.
some of the mods are
-front roll pan
-one piece windows
-shaved EVERYTHING!! lol.
-rear roll pan
-painted front trim to match silver roof
-painted smothies centers to match silver roof
I am so stoked to get started on her again. Im going to pulll her out of the garage and clean the whole shop up. Once its all clean and tidy im going to hit her hard!! Enjoy guys and let me know what you think.

It was between the blue and the green.
