here are some I took yesterday with the chrome bumper
just fwiw, after the pics, I cleaned up this bumper, it looks pretty good now I used some 320 grit wet dry sand paper, still need to get some chrome polish and see if it will sparkle;) Attachment 383355 Attachment 383356 Attachment 383357 Attachment 383358 Attachment 383359 |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
That chrome bumper is the white bumper previously?? Just sanded ? I have the chrome grill and a white bumper just like yours.. Hm...
|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
no, I got an original chrome bumper and swapped it with the white one.
if you look at the pic you can kinda see the rust on the chrome bumper, that is what I cleaned up with sand paper |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Looks good in one color Joe! :metal:
|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
thanks Jeremy!!

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
hey that dog drops your bed about 1/2 inch! check the letters on the tire.
I like the flat green, it would look cool with an old army logo painted on the door. |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
haha he does weigh over 80lbs. and these jeep coils are soft
The wife and I have been talking about putting the Sea Bee symbol on it. the '66 was my father-in-laws truck before he passed a couple years back. he was a Sea Bee. also my biological father passed many years ago and he too was a Sea Bee, so it would have dual meaning for us. |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Looks awsome! Are you gonna eventually gonna lay some real paint on it? or you gonna keep the primer?
|
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
nah, we will definitely put some paint on it, just undecided on color as of yet
I was just happy to get it un-calico-ed  we still need to strip the interior, inside the bed, and back of cab/front of bed oh and then the there is the little issue of body work :waah: |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Not a bad lookin' '80 Joe. Congrats!
I guess I'm gonna have to go to the 73-87 side to keep up with this one! |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Thanks Tim....
here is a LINKY  it will need some body work, but Scott has nothing better to do anyway  |

couple quick updates
I modified stock seat brackets to use on a mid '80's seat. it is a temp while recover the stocker and work on the interior...... it seems to sit a bit different, and doesn't quite go as far back Attachment 401950 Attachment 401951 Attachment 401952 Attachment 401953 Attachment 401954 |

I also shortened column and moved the steering wheel approximately 2.5 inches closer to the dash. Of course it moved the wheel down at the same time. With the mid '80's seat that seems to sit higher, and our after-market wheel, the top of the steering wheel blocks the view of the speedo. guess an Ididit tilt column (or cheaper van tilt column swap) is in our future ;)
here are some pics Attachment 401993 Attachment 401956 Attachment 401957 Attachment 401958 Attachment 401959 |

Oh and I also got the hazard flasher installed and working, guess I'm easily entertained but, I think they are very cool!
more pics Attachment 401961 Attachment 401963 Attachment 401980 oh and some grinder carnage...... the cut off wheel got pinched while I was cutting through the steering shaft and BOOM! luckily it didn't hit me Attachment 401972 Attachment 401974 |
Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Dang, nice seat. I need to find one that exact same color for my 78
