Rob, preliminary fit of the right door is good which means it will get better as the cab corners and rockers are done.

Eb this is exactly how i want the dash. I will cut the a/c vents and control in at home with my plasma cutter or something but this is how I want it to be

ebfabman 02-18-2009 08:21 PM

Re: Project Cod Fish

That looks good. I'll take care of it for you. Do you have a closer pic of it?

rob32472 02-19-2009 12:16 AM

Re: Project Cod Fish

Eb i dont have a closer pic, but basically just smooth the radio area and we are good

Re: Project Cod Fish

I got ya.

smbrouss70 02-19-2009 12:23 AM

Re: Project Cod Fish

Not to stick my nose in on your project or anything, but the hole where the factory ac/heater controls were is too big for a din sized radio. So it would need to be smoothed also, then cut to the proper size.

Re: Project Cod Fish

eb, just looking at the door to cab fit brought up a thought. I see so many trucks where all the panels create a valley at the edge (if this makes sense). I would like mine to be perfectly flat when the time comes. what can a guy do about that?

BTW, I am really diggin' the way you get butt welds to come out so good ie. the lower kick panels. I also like the fact that you seem to address each piece individually by removing it ie. B pillar jamb.

Re: Project Cod Fish

Thanks for the compliments 68C15. My goal is to help Rob build a solid truck. He wants real good. I want to do my best to help him reach his goal.

Re: Project Cod Fish

Hey Rob, that roller is looking good. looks like you'll need this cab soon. Just about got the door issues sorted out so now its on to the cab corners and rockers. When they are done, the doors should fit very well.

Re: Project Cod Fish

hope to get the engine and tranny in this week, bed will be at the blaster tomorrow and on to the body shop. Still looking for a good 68 clip though it may take a while I am even willing to trade my buckets and console for one and still no bites. I hope i can find one..... guess we will see. Thanks for the great work and good communication I can honestly say that we seem to be on the same page with the build. You are "The Fabman" not a fabman. So props to ya man:metal:

do you just do this on the front of the floor at the fire wall? or do you do it at the back of the cab floor also? do you plug/spot then complete weld on inside and or outside of cab? thanks, jon

ebfabman 02-23-2009 10:59 PM

Re: Project Cod Fish

Jon, I just weld the floor to firewall all the way across. The rear floor to rear cab panel get plug welded across the outside like the factory then seam seal the inside. At least thats the best way I found to do it so far.

Re: Project Cod Fish

Say EB, you think you could have left a little more gap there, The man might want to open door once in a while...

They sure didn't look like that from the factory...

A+ work for sure.

Currently my door gaps range from 3/16" to 1/2" to allow for play in the hinges... HA

Re: Project Cod Fish

Awesome!!!! Man I think i will put a 01 on the side and crawl through the window. The cab corner looks awesome.
