Re: Bolt in steering rack
drove it to work today, again, and it is a pleasure to drive. We heard a squeek on the compression in a right turn, but it was the lower bushings, so better news. We are using the late model pump, and stock hoses. 2002 c-1500. We are looking at source books to see if we can find a stock hose for the early style pump. I'll keep you posted

Re: Bolt in steering rack

Re: Bolt in steering rack
Looks like a very good setup, I want one as well.

Re: Bolt in steering rack
I got a bushing from Speedway that adapts a flare style hose to an o-ring style pump. Works great.

Re: Bolt in steering rack

Re: Bolt in steering rack
I think that I will have to wait till this comes out. I am redoing an 82 model for my son's first truck. We were going to rebuild the front suspension and steering this summer, but might want to wait on this kit.
Rob - will you have the JT and Silver Bullet at the GoodGuys at TMS in October? I did not get to go to the March meet... |

May is right around the corner Rob. I cant wait anymore....I got all my front end done except steering.. Let's have it.....:metal:

Re: Bolt in steering rack
yes my trucks new front end just screams for a quicker steering setup. the stock box is tooo sloooww and requires to much input for anything curvier then a straight line

Re: Bolt in steering rack
We're working on it as fast as we can. The tie rod end (rod-end) life span should be about 30k miles, shorter than stockers, but not to bad. This is a common rod end so easy to replace.

Re: Bolt in steering rack
How is the rack going to connect to the steering shaft? Any chance that this will also give us a good chance to ditch the rag joint and go to a U-joint?

Re: Bolt in steering rack
rob just to make sure this setup will work with an inline 6 292 and the stock power steering system..also will the stock power steering hoses work or are new ones in the kit. thanks

Also for people running LS engines will there still be a requirement for a modified drivers side engine mount if we are using CPP tubular mounts? Thanks |
Re: Bolt in steering rack
interested in this as well!

Re: Bolt in steering rack
Too late (and too much invested) to take advantage of Rob's new rack setup - but, damn, this is HUGE. An affordable R&P for our trucks is epic.
Props to No Limit. Woot! |

Any updates rob?

Re: Bolt in steering rack
next week we are going to do an "out of the box" install on a stock-ish 66. StreetTrucks is coming out to cover the install, and we are having a the owner of the truck install the kit himself. If all goes as planned we are ready to roll the kits out June 1. This way we will know if anything needs to be tweeked, we will post up dailey during the install, and have the owner comment on the install and the feel - before/after. The only thing we are waiting for is the cnc formed pressure tubes from classic tube. they should be here next week, we can bend and flare a few, but I'm sure we won't be able to meet the demand that way. Look for picts starting monday.

Re: Bolt in steering rack
Sounds good I have the factory ps setup on my truck

Re: Bolt in steering rack
put me on your list Rob. I've been wanting a complete new custom IFS...but will have to settle for my dropped spindles/1" springs/bump stops/tubular upper control arms, and big sway bar. The slow OEM steering has got to go and I'd rather do a r&p over a new steering box. My LS3 style motor already has the right ps pump.

Re: Bolt in steering rack
Any install pics yet?

Re: Bolt in steering rack
Sory guys, were runnin' a bit behind. Last weeks Truckin Throwdown took up a bunch of time. - Good time though - I promise to get some picts and info up today. We started the install this morning.
