I decided to run a flex line at the front of the trailing arm in order to ease the trouble of removing tires,I have to unbolt the air bags and drive shaft to drop the rear enough but I should not have to take the brake lines loose.Attachment 1035260

Re: SANFORD build thread

I like how you ran your brake line down the trailing arm rather than along the frame all the way rearward.. Or, was your truck originally plumbed this way? My Suburban had the hardline go all the way back to just over top of the rearend with the flex hose running downward to the "T" on the axle housing..

Looks very nice.

Re: SANFORD build thread

hemifalcon it originally ran to the back and down with a flex line,I changed it to help with removing rear wheels

always such nice work very clean!

Re: SANFORD build thread

Oh yeah, I like that flex line mounting point for the rear brakes a lot better than the standard spot at the trailing end!!
Though I must admit I had to look at your photo a few times to realize what I was looking at and why it was important !!

Nice mod I would consider doing for any build.

check--- make sense since you're going to be so low with your body over the wheels.. I forget that airbags can't open up or "stretch" that far.. Good idea..

Thanks guys for the comments,I was having excessive camber change when I get the truck low,It always bothered me so I decided to make some new upper a-arm mounts.I moved the upper mounting point up around 2 inches and it really made a world of difference. I had mybe a 1/2 degree of camber change through the range of suspension travel that the truck will spend its time in.Anyone looking to lower a truck a lot I think would be best to get a Porterbuilt crossmember but if you have more time than money you can build something similar to this.I dont have a lot of money in it but I have a huge amount of time in it.Attachment 1040629

awesome work you are doing, i like your last truck you did! i'm planning to add the lwb wheel arch to my swb, since theres a 3" difference, just to make the wheels look centered to the bed! once again awesome work and great welding skills!!

Re: SANFORD build thread

I did not use the original as the frame I used was bare when I started,I did use a standard one piece that was shorted and re-balanced.

You are doing amazing work. I like your rear brake line routing. I just read thru the whole thread, Can you post your wheel and tire specs? I like the look and might want to do a similar tire size on mine someday. Thanks!
