Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
So the old 12.00-16.5 tires must have come as an OEM option, b/c that's the only size I can think of that would have fit 9.75 rims back then. Interesting..... I thought those (what was called 'flotation') tires were always aftermarket or dealer-installed. Never knew they were a factory option. Learn something every day on this board!

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
You know I'm not sure if they were dealer installed. I know they were called Kelsey Haynes wheels I got two sets that are exactly the same 16.5x9.75 5.5" backspace on one set of 4 I have a little ford oval stamped in them but are exactly them same as the other set. May be one someone else can chime in.

They are getting harder to find these days, tire option too. I'm hoping by the time I need tires, there will be more options. BFG was once offering their mud for a 16.5, I'm currently running the BFG A/T. I'd like to go with the mud next. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
You can still buy new 16x6 6lug and 9.75x16.5 8lug wheels. You can find these wheels on trailers as well as ag equipment.
Now 8.25 and 9.75 had 10.00 x 16.5 flotation , In all my info the 12.00x16.5 was never a option. My extra set of kh 9.75 are on STA 10.00x16.5 Super transport tires. The fire trucks " Brush trucks " GM and ford that had 9.75 used 10.00x16.5 Super Trac ,Destone " sp" and the power kings. They may have used the 12.00x16.5 on brush trucks but as of now that's all the info I have. See " Brush Fire " thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=442259 |

i like the way joesjunks trucks look. If I have a 4x4 it'll get that treatment. I also like these with no caps.

Almost done with a lwb-swb conversion. Keeping the wheels, might up the tire size though.

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
Hey MadTrucker - I like those mirrors! What are they off and did it take much to fit to your truck?
I currently have the tripod mirrors and they shake like a son of a gun! |
Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
They are a trimmed down set of mid 80's mirrors. They are pretty much cut all the way around to fit the body lines as close as possible. If I think about it I'll post a pic on my build. I need another set, they seem to dent before they fold in.

Yfs200p do you have any specs on the blue truck you posted pics of on page 2 like tire size, lift ?
|
Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??
I do not. All i have is that its a 1971 K20. Looks to be the same as the green one. No lift, just larger tires like 285/75 or so. The K20s sit up higher than the K10s so they appear to be lifted but i'm pretty sure those two aren't.
