I had a buddy make these for me, but I've had a lot of people commenting on them. I'm planning on getting some quotes from local machine shops to start selling them. I've been so busy getting the truck put together that I haven't had the time to get it done as soon as I had hoped. Hopefully here in the next month I'll have an idea of what kind of pricing and packaging I'll have for them.

Thanks.

Did a little more wiring under the dash this weekend and started gathering up everything I need to do the engine/trans install. I'll be ordering the new windshield this week and will hopefully have it in Friday night if all goes well. Here's a few pics of the engine lined up with all of the fluids we'll be using. Going to try out the Joe Gibbs Driven oil, I've heard good things about it. I also added a close-up of the Terminator EFI Throttle body. It's getting down to the wire now.

That motor looks SICK NASTY with those black chevrolet valve covers (my favorite of all time!!) and that black throttle body! The engine brackets & pulleys really set it off. Nicely done :bling2:

Getting real close! Still feeling a bit behind schedule, but I think we will be fine once we get past this point. Power Tour is 3 months out and I would like to have a few weeks to break everything in before the long haul.

Thanks, BossHogg69! I originally had polished aluminum valve covers and an Edelbrock carb, but I'm glad I spent the coin to upgrade the looks and add some modern technology. What can I say, I'm addicted to the parts catalogs! It doesn't help running a small parts biz on the side, makes it too easy to feed my addiction, LOL.

Mike....are you going to install the windshield or farm it out?

My wife and I installed the front and the rear. Front was scarry since I busted the front taking it out.

BugzC10, we are doing the install ourselves this Friday night. I ordered a Pilkington windshield today and it should be in tomorrow. Should go pretty smooth.

Thanks, guys. I'm getting anxioius to have it done, but with the winter we are having, I should have it ready to go about the time that all of the snow is gone.

3 WORDS.... TAIWAN. MADE. TRIM. We were using a Precision brand gasket, but the trim was a foreign knock-off. I bet you can't guess which one didn't fit.

I had my suspisions about the trim and they proved to be true. After thinking about it, I've shaved all of side trim from the truck, might as well be sans trim on the windshield and back glass as well. So now I'm waiting on new window gaskets without the trim groove from Precision. Anybody need a set of '71-'72 windshield and back glass gaskets w/ trim grooves? LOL.

In the mean time, I've been getting a few more details finished out so we can go right to installing the engine after the windshield fiasco is done. Gonna be a busy next few days.

Those are becoming a popular item and getting a lot of requests. I really need to market them! I think the new ones will have the hole centered, though, instead of off-set. When I had these made, I was being a little over-cautious on keeping the bed away from the cab, but centered will still keep a good alignment.

Sorry to hear it didn't go well...don't you just love those little surprises! New OEM trim is extremely hard to find. Maybe you could fine a decent used set that could be polished, but that just eats into your timeline to get er done.

I'm getting extremely excited about this build. This was a big step that I was dreading because I knew it would be tedious putting it in without touching the paint.

Are you're refering to the window gaskets with the trim groove? Yes, I planned on posting them soon along with some other items. The front is the only one that has been opened, still in great shape. Both Precision brand. I would take $50 shipped for the 2 gaskets ('71-'72 shallow groove) if you would like to have them. I have the trim also, but I wouldn't recommend using it, at least the front. It didn't follow the rounded contour at the top about 6" in from each side. The rear window trim may be good on aftermarket stuff because of the window being flat. If you're interested, send me a PM and we can arrange shipping/payment.

Nothing real exciting going on with the build right now. Routing A/C and Heater Hoses and more wiring. As of now we're shooting for a May 1st completion date. Should give us plenty of time to work everything in before the Power Tour.

Should be a good time... weather permitting. Not sure if the first time I get it out I would want it to be in the rain. But it's only 10 minutes from my house. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the compliments. It's been a 9 year labor of love dedicated to my Mother who passed away in 1997 from Cancer. Our last family vacation together was to Bettendorf, Iowa to go on a Mississippi River Casino Boat and then up to Field of Dreams in Dyersville. Coincidently, the Hot Rod Power Tour is running right through there this year on the last leg to Wisconsin Dells. We'll be making some stops and taking in some memories for sure.

Received the Dynamic Hot Rods radiator cover yesterday. Mocked it up and it fit very well. Only need to do some minor trimming on the ends and it matched up great with the Be Cool radiator. I'll be sending this out with a few other parts to get black texture powder coating this week and then get the grill and front bumper mounted.

Got the hood back on last night and started lining things up to get the bed on. A/C hoses are cut, crimped, and ready to install. Mounted the Terminator EFI computer in the glove box. Picked up some brackets from powder coat and mounted the Trans cooler. We'll be back at it tonight. Stay tuned...

Put the grille on last night, it really changed the look of the truck and brightened it up. I won't be back on it until Saturday. I'll be running down to Goshen/Elkhart, IN area to get a new tinted back glass cut and then working on the interior in the afternoon...
