Bought it a couple weeks ago. Fresh 350 with Comp Cams 252H, a little headwork (not sure what heads though), new exhaust. Need to fix the ignition linkage and I'll probably swap in a tilt column if I can find one. I'm thinking of building a flatbed for it, probably steel frame/wood deck. |

Err, forgot to mention... 1973 C20, 350/350, no rust in important places (that I could find).
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I wqould like the c20 as a lifted K20, could bring my tools and still go mudding, cool C20, I like the work box. Different and cool at the same time.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
It's hard to fit big tires with a utility bed (at least without hacking it up).
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
interesting project as a 2wd as is, not many out there.
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Do you mean there aren't many C20s or there aren't many C20s with utility beds?
I'm not too sure the bed is staying, and I'm not too sure it's staying 2WD... |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Oh I meant with utility beds, have hardly ever seen any at all.
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Yeah I agree especially if its in good condition!
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I have seen cool full out truck 2wd or 4wd many times, all nice but a utility bed truck, hmmm the things you could do. That is why I was thinking of a huge lift with 40 plus in tires, big block, would go anywhere and packin tools an air tank and other cool back woods stuff, couldn't beat it.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
We should probably ask the owners vision
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Ya your right, prob a different vision being 2wd, but cool truck what ever he does with it. Hoping to see a build soon.

Here's my first square that I can call mine: 1982 Chevy Silverado K-10 6.2/700r4/208 and 3.08 gears.

My dad's 86 K10 Silverado. He bought it from a friend to use as a backup truck in his snow removal fleet. Luckily it has only seen snow a handful of times, but it's enough for some rust to start poking through. I looked at the build sheet in the glove box recently and found out it was special ordered with 3.08 gears, which explains why the transmission would overheat a little when we plowed with it. So it is now retired as a snow removal truck and currently my daily driver. Also has an unoriginal 350 and TH400 instead of the 305/700r4 setup.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Hey guys I'm new to this whole posting thing and also new to the driving world... For this Christmas (15th year) I got my first vehicle-a 1980 Chevy C10, 350, long bed, 465 4 speed/205 transfer case... Silver/gray paint... I was wondering how I can post pictures from my iphone though? Any help /suggestions would be greatly appreciated:chevy:

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Is it on propane.

it was running on propane all the time. When I bought it the propane was removed but I build it back to propane. (all the needed stuff was coming with the Truck). Before I do that I have to repair some damage due to the longer time it was parked and not driven very often. (Mufflers, belts and so on)
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I work for a propane company, we used to convert mostly trucks to propane when it was really cheap, not hardly worth the conversion today with the switch cost so much so not many around anymore. Still most fork lifts still are propane.
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
due to high tax on gas running with propane is still cheaper (over here)
$ 1.90/Liter for gas to $ 1.00/Liter for Propane it will make more fun to drive that Big Block around running on Propane |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
$1.00 for propane, believe it is .88 a litre here where I work, wonder if it goes as far mileage wise as fossil fuel.
