Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Good to see you back to work on another one, great choice on the platform, not many Buicks out there, and I'm guessing "none" with your special touch?
BTW, that 4dr HT looks like something I'd drive, what a great patina! Get to work, y'all, we're waiting:) |

Earlier my dad said that he thinks we have enough Buick parts to finish the car, and yet we are going to pick up the "other car" today. I'm actually surprised that no one has been interested in knowing what it is!

Torque tube rear axle/drive shaft assembly is out of the car, never to be put back in. Attachment 1341025
Attachment 1341027 Attachment 1341028 The rear axle doesn't have a normal driveshaft, but instead uses a torque tube filled with gear oil, which is notorious for leaking. That old technology has got to go! Also the gas tank has been removed. Attachment 1341026 :mmmk: |

In the front, our '57 Buick has a one-year-only front suspension design that no parts are available for, sloppy recirculating ball steering, and crummy drum brakes. It should be a drastic transformation from a ride and handling standpoint. We are 30 minutes away, so pictures shall be coming soon. :mmmk: |

Hello again. My dad forgot to pack the card reader for our camera, so we have not been able to post the pictures promised. :whine: I, however, took a picture on my phone, as we are driving down the road, and shall post it for y'all now.Attachment 1341610
TADAAAAAAAAA! One of us will post more pictures once we get home in about 6.5/7 hours. So long until then. :mmmk: |

On the road photos from moonlit Connecticut.
94 XJ-S with the V-12 engine, 42,000 miles, zero damage or issues, just hasn't run since 1998! It seems that the original owner went to jail and stored it in his parents backyard. Somehow he never came back for it and recently the city made them clean up the back yard. It popped up on Craigslist a few weeks back for $1500, and I figure surely I can part it out and possibly break even. |
Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
^^^ good buy!
