I think red and white would be awesome especially if you have some red interior parts. I’ve never seen a red/white 4 door

More rust repair work up front. Got all cut out and ended up being worse than I originally thought but still no big deal.. got a floor patch in along with new front support, lower kick panel patch and the lower section of the A piller..Also got the rocker installed. Not 100% pleased with aftermarket rocker fitment but got it best I could. Moved onto the 4th door area and modified 2 drivers side rockers becuse I had to form the front part to accept the new B pillar. Tried to keep it as factory looking in that area as possible and I’m happy with the result. Just have to do a rocker backing piece yet and the drivers side is about done..

Spent the Christmas vacation in the garage but took a break from cab floor repairs.. Since I’m installing bucket seats and console in this truck I decided that I didn’t want my passenger seat solid mounted like a single cab truck but instead I’ll solid mount the rear bench seat. So I took some junkyard find 1972 k5 drivers side seat tracks and cut them apart. Grinding rivets off the seat mount pedestals. Welded holes shut in the slide rail. Next I had to reverse everything to the opposite side on the latch rail piece. Had to bend up a piece of 12 ga. steel for the angle. Where the adjuster lever connects. I made a few errors along the way but that’s metal work. Grinder fixed that. My tracks were missing the engagement latch piece that goes thru the tracks and latches in the notches so I had to get a set out of bench seat tracks. Surprisingly they are different so I again had to weld them up and regrind the notches..lastly was the engagement lever. I think I cut it 5 times and flipped stuff heated and bent the handle part. That’s was the hardest bit of it all. Also welded a new foot on the one as it was rotted away. After 15 hours I have passenger side adjustable bucket seat tracks mirrored of the drivers side. Next it to get mounted to floor with necessary reinforcement plates..

Finished up the last rocker and backing plate on the passenger side. Now the cab is almost completed gotta tidy some things up yet with some extra holes. Got the trans tunnel cut out as well so it’s officially 4wd! Ordered all the trim for this build as well so now it’s time to start hanging sheet metal so I can get the trim layer out.

Picked up some goodies this past weekend for the ole girl. Had the truck rolled outside for the first time in 2021. Working on mock up now. Moved the engine crossmember foreward 2”. Also replaced the front most crossmember as mine was bent.. set the big block in with new poly mounts and fits snug as a rug.

Got the transmission and transfer case bolted up under as well so I could relocate the trans crossmember. Went ahead and installed a skid plate I made off an original one. Installed the secondary crossmember for that as well. Think I’m gonna stick two more crossmembers back the frame where my splice and addition is..

Picked up all the sheet metal for my shortbed. With so much metal work involved with this crew cab conversion I kinda burnt myself out in that department so I went ahead with aftermarket bed parts. So far with minimal altercations it seems to be fitting up decent and there is zero rust to fix which makes me happy.

Nothing exciting really to update the build with... got the rest of the crossmembers installed into the frame where I thought necessary. I mounted a 2wd automatic trans crossmember upside down after my double trans crossmember with skid plate. I flipped it upside down for driveshaft clearance. Next I tried to copy the crossmember between the rear spring hangers. Super happy with how that came out.. I bolted that in just about between the rear cab mounts. Trying to keep the underside looking factory. Coming out decent..

Moved up to the motor compartment to tackle some things up front. First step was switching from a long water pump to a short water pump so I can use all the factory 1972 brackets. Took me a bit to figure out all the AC compressor brackets but I got everything bolted up and looking right. Still have to change the power steering pulley as this one is bent. I got one on the way. Nest step is to get some headers to fit up and hopefully clear my 4 speed Z bar linkage.

Had some BB headers laying around but they hit the frame everywhere so I spent about 2 hours online looking for some and reading others build threads about what they used. I settled for some hookers (520-2463) from jegs. First step was getting the pivot ball and Z bar working. Had to make a bracket to bolt onto the block and then tap a hole 2” back and thread the pivot ball into... headers came in this week so I was excited after work to bolt them on. Passenger side fell on. No dents in the pipes or grinding on the frame. Drivers side cleared the frame well but of course they hit the Z bar. So I guess I’m modifying the rear primary tube to clear it. After a couple hours and a piece of tubing from pep boys I got them clearing the linkage. Touched them up with some high temp paint for now but I thinking about wrapping them when the time for final instal comes.. I did grind the frame about a 1/4” at one spot simply to make final install easier..

Bolted up the new rad support and got my OEM fenders bolted on for mock up. Had to shim the cab up front to get the gaps tighter. Dropped in a used 4 core and a BB shroud to check clearances. Have to do some trimming on the shroud so it drops down about a 1/4”. The fan clears but I’d like some more gap on the bottom side. My trim order from Mar-k came in this week as well. Was super excited to get that stuff. Quality seems top notch and was packaged very well!

Dig out the old sidewinder winch I picked up last year and started to fab up some mounts. Rear frame mount and rear winch mount were still attached to the winch so I started there. I moved the winch as far back as possible to hopefully keep the bumper trimming at a minimum. Started with a 2.5” angle iron for the front. After some cutting and welding we have a front winch mount. Got a bumper out of the scrap pile to practice on the notch. After a few hours I got a notch I was happy with.. Now I can say 3 hooks are better than 2 😎

Got all the trim holes drilled on the passenger side. Dry fit upper and lower trim and rolled the truck outside to stand back and see how straight the trim was... it was nice to take advantage of that white background as well. One pic is the factory 3rd door with my shortened trim installed. Pleased with its outcome. Onto the drivers side.
