yes but its much more difficult to reproduce those VIN plates and those current vehicles are not so desirable.and often the new vehicles dont sit in a garage for years before you go to register them and find out that somehow your vehicle has ended up sold and registered to another owner in another state.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

I have an rpo sheet off my 80'
I realize it doesn't quite fit the year of the group here but I've been looking at some of the sheets posted and they are quite similar.

My question here is am I able to post up my sheet for It?
I need some guidance here on rpos for tires and two more that I have absolutely no idea about. One might be "special paint" not 100%

Thanks.

Bigdav160,

I think it's going to be a neat project. I got it from a great friend, I hope to pick it up in a couple weeks. It's all there.....motor, trans, all the accessories. Needs a bunch of work, but its a good one to start with, and I think the silver poly with the red/oxblood/burgundy interior is going to be a knockout.

It was obviously a fed govt truck and different agencies were different colors. I can't tell but what color is the inside of the glove box door?

Here's an old thread. Looks like it was green from the factory.

Here is a photo of my "Service Parts Identification" plate. Seeing if you guys could help me figure out what the original exterior and interior paint colors are.

Medium blue with a white roof. Either fawn (silver) or blue interior paint. Someone else may know which. Blue upholstery. Good one.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies 68bowtie and Killer Bee. I am looking to freshen up the paint on the wheels and interior. This info has helped a bunch.

Anyone ever seen one without a model number on it? Mine doesn’t have a model number and I would really like to know the model number for my truck but idk why mine doesn’t have it

Mr. Obvious,

Maybe, it's under that blotch of red paint. Try decoding the VIN.

mrobvious34 12-18-2017 10:54 PM

Re: SPID Picture thread?

I have decoded the vin and it tells me it is a 67 2wd V8 1/2 pickup built in St. Luis, the last numbers of the vin is just the sequence number I believe, telling me what number it was down the assembly line correct? What I’m really wanting to find out is if my truck originally was a swb/lwb and was it a step or fleet bed. But as far as I can figure out the only way to tell is with the model number

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Yeah, nobody needs to see his serial number. I posted mine with the whole SPID, but I'm not worried about theft. I'm betting even money that my attorneys are as good or better than anyone trying to get my truck for their own. It would appear that the wheelbase info is scrubbed off the top of the SPID, or maybe the first few characters yield that information. I forget.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Mr. Obvious, you have a St. Louis built truck. They wrote the model number on the firewall. Do you have any original firewall markings left? Check the passenger side firewall in the engine bay. They also wrote the model number on the rear frame cross brace. It would be upside down and backwards if still there. Crawl under the rear bumper and check the rear cross brace. Early 1967 St. Louis trucks did not have Model numbers or Wheelbase on the SPID. Later 67 St. louis trucks did.
