Finally finished, WOW!!! Love all the pics but the one at the strip with that drivers side tire just barely touching the ground.....spectacular! Fantastic job!! I hope mine comes out a fraction as nice as yours. I personally never liked red but brother you ROCK it in style! Thanks for sharing your build, I totally enjoyed it. I too am looking forward to the burnout video :metal: :metal: Keep on spinnin and grinning :metal:

X2 :metal: :metal: though I might be nervous showing up with my truck. Reading all the other builds.....my truck is going to be in the "Door slammer" category. The talent on this site is mindblowing.

Currently, I am figuring out what life is like to be without electricity in 20-some degree weather for the past 3 days...
The power company says that it should be back on by December 25th @ 11:30pm...Nice!

you too chad, and yep the motor is out as of now thanks to a cheap torque converter, or should I say a non balloon ringed torque converter. the converter was ballooning under the torque of the engine which killed the thrust bearing, which got my crank so I now i am in the process of building a completely new 406, studded 4 bolt main gm block this time instead of a 2 bolt main, and a complete new 4340 internally balanced scat rotating assembly with 6,0 rods instead of the 5,7rods in the old motor, still going to run the dart heads for now but I have my eyes on a set 227 afr heads and a bigger cam. also rebuilt the turbo 350 with red clutches and kolene steels hoping it wil hold the 200 shot its getting this time, I will try and post some pics soon.

thanks for the kind words and I hope it helped, but as I see it your skills way surpass mine and for inspiration all you need to do is walk out to the garage and open the door, I am totally envious of the talent there is on this forum

thanks bomp, if he wanted it before he will really want it when I get done this time, with the juice I am hoping to put right at 600 hp to the wheels, that would give old Rudolph a run for the money:lol:

happy new year to all, and cant wait to hear and see some of the new year resolutions.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

a little up-date on the red truck for bomp. the new motor is another 406, started with a virgin 4 bolt main 400, bored it 30, studded the mains, fresh scat 4340 crank, 6 inch 4340 scat I beam rods, keith black icon forged pistons, lunati solid roller 626 lift cam comp cams valve springs, retainers and locks, comp ultra gold roller rockers, same 215 dart angle plug pro 1 heads and victor junior intake, 750 demon worked by stealth racing and msd ignition. added a aeromotive ss fuel system for the cheater nitrous kit and so far only made 2 nitrous passes, neither of which was a hit off the line, I di try on my last pass and it didn't turn out very well, broke the u joint and rear yoke off the rear end. it went a 7.55 first pass and a 7.41 on the second I believe there is a 7.20 in it if I can hit it dead out of the hole. with this combo the truck has actually slowed down a little but its because I went to a tci converter that's only stalling 2200 on the foot brake where the other acc was stalling 3800 on the foot brake. anyway there are some pictures on the web at. brainerd optomist drag strip bryd photography 5-23-2014 test and tune. it shows one of the carnage, I have installed a 1350 yoke and a new 3 1/2 drive shaft with 1350 u joints, cant wait till I get to go back. oh yeah nitrous shot is a 150 for now. I am wanting to put it on a chassis dyno and see what kinda numbers its making.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

Sounds like the new engine should be a strong runner. Sorry to hear about the differential carnage. It sounds like you're going to give the 12 bolt another chance before going with a 9 inch?

If you have a few minutes would you mind posting your engine build info in this thread I started?

Re: my 65 fleetside build

WOW! Great build :metal: I just saw the thread and went through the whole thing and it's great. I used a new 9" in my 67 nova and have nothing but problems (whining gears) out of it. It seems that the aftermarket gears are cut different than the older Ford gears. I have had Heidt's, Johns 9" factory, DTS and Strange set up center sections with new gears for me. They all whine! I will be building a 8.8 or a Dana 60 for the Nova and maybe one for the 65 C10. Good luck and don't forget a driveshaft loop on that very nice truck.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

great to hear you got the motor built, to bad about braking stuff! but atleast it didn't cause a lot more damage, an glad you got that fixed too!!
