My last two vehicles were bright yellow. I love it. So do cops though.
Anyway.. how cool. |
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Bet it feels good to be on the final legs of your build. Love the color.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Its been a long road, two tubs and two motors, several moves. I was lookin' back at my oldest pics today. The date on the earliest is April 18th 2001. I started before that, just don't remember when, lol. Here are some pics of the beginning.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn50/MYK5/b1.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/IMAG0001.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/IMAG0004.jpg I hate to cut holes in my fresh paint but I gotta. These little rubber things go in between the door and tub for wiring to go through. They require a inch and a half hole on one end and a inch and a quarter on the other. Smallest I could find at the pull a part. I figure it'll look better then the speaker wire just hangin' there. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040649.jpg |
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
you could just use some mesh or something smaller, thats a big hole for something as small as wire
|
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
They make some nice wire looms just for that. Look at the power window makers/suppliers. Has to be something reasonable and smaller!

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Started diggin' up parts to be cleaned and painted. I think I've got it all, lol. Went through a box of stuff I had bought in the before time, all kinds of goodies I forgot about. I even bought one of those cup holder things that replaces the ash tray. Looks like the only thing I forgot to buy was the seals that go into the firewall. I've got all the old but not sure I wanna reuse it. Can't wait to mount the new steering column too! Manual tilt.

They don't clean up to good. Thought about hittin' them with some 400 and a coat of gloss black. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040652.jpg |
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
I sent mine off for rechrome... they look nice now bt it wasnt cheap. How about powdercoat? ...more durable, and will fill the pits better than paint.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Hope I've not left anything to be painted black out. It was a fun day prepping and hangin' all the small parts. Tomorrow I hope to paint the rest of the small stuff yellow.

It was donated by Jamie72. I think it'll be neat to have the courtesy lights up there. Just gotta run the wire for it. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040686.jpg |

It's an 'over center' spring.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Wow. Been a while since I checked in on this one. Great job!

Got some stuff painted yellow today and wasted some paint, lol. Heres the wasted paint. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040689.jpg Ash tray front. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040694.jpg Wasn't happy with the glove box door and fuel filler door so I painted those again. Got the rest of the small stuff painted too, defrost vents, ac vents windshield wipers assembly and a ton of bolts. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040696.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040690.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040691.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040692.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040695.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040693.jpg For anyone wondering I use a Satajet RP gun with a 1.3 tip. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040687.jpg They don't make the paint I started with anymore and this is what the old part number crossed over to. Its a new formula still made by Sherwin Williams. Laid out nice, especially since I got the gun setup right, lol. Yeah, that helps, lol. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040699.jpg |
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
What about a contrasting color?
What is the interior going to be...yellow too? Cool though, you won't need to use lights in the shop anymore with that glowing yellow in there. :haha: |

Basically pulls the pedal back into position. Needs to be there as far as I know. Tom if you need one, I just switched a pedal assembly out and have that spring sitting on the bench. PM your snal mail addy and I can send it, no problem. |

Got everything coated in bed liner. It was a long day.... Still a little happy from the fumes, lol. Used a respirator but I believe it leaked. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040701.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040702.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040705.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040714.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040703.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040713.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040707.jpg Stuck the gas door, glove box door, ac vents and couple little other things on too. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/P1040710.jpg |
Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Looks really good, what brand lining did you use?

Bondo Truck Guard.... Its a two part kit and I rolled it on. Plus when it cures out its not as rough as some of the other roll on liners I've seen. Still has texture just not enough to cut your had should you brush up against it, lol. |
