We bought it for whatever parts that didn't get exposed to the weather directly and also gambling that the Omniturn controller will come back to life after drying out and cleaning up.
There was a whole cabinet shop in the same condition. Big table saws, shapers, 14" radial arm saw, pneumatic door assembly jigs, and more..
Probably 50 outboard motors, and too much to list just scattered around a 75x100 poll barn. But under the cover of roof in the barn were some large farm equipment and about 100 bicycles in a pile at least 7 foot high. I'm sure those bicycles are worth more than the machinery that has turned to junk in the rain.
All kinds of junk, but no truck parts to be had.

Hauled racing pigeons from Bellingham Washington to Mt Shasta California. We did this on weekends. Did this for 4 months a year for 6 years. This pic is about 15 years old. 1970 Chev 1 ton dually, 350 4 speed, 8-9 miles per gallon, premium gas. Sold this truck to a masonry and it's still using it today.

Got a fellow that lived about 3 miles from me, he would go to government auctions and buy truck loads of lathes, tooling and bins full of parts. The guy spent a fortune on junk!
The county got on him about all the junk in his field so he built 2 metal buildings which housed maybe 25% of what he had.....then he died.

Next chapter, his wife (and the county) wanted to get rid of all of it, but didn't want anybody rummaging around on her property  :haha:

My cousin who knew them both, deals in discontinued and old forklift parts, he did go out there and said what was not rusted beyond saving the rats had destroyed.

Next chapter, about 4 or 5 months ago the wife died. Have no idea what will happen with the offspring. I'd get bids from scrappers to haul it all off.

It is just stuff, but the waste really bothers me. The problem is that every person that hoards stuff until everything just turns into garbage will just shake their head and say, "that guy has a problem, I know what I've got".

The kids/family will just end up paying someone to get rid of the garbage and sell the property at wholesale prices (hoarding, disrepair, and deferred maintenance go hand in hand). Such is the way. My family did it for my grandfather, and I'll have to do it too when the time comes.

What better way to tow a vintage mustang than with a vintage K/5

Too Much Junk

I hear you about the amazing things hoarded and ruined .

I guess I'm a bit guilty there, I have no indoor storage, luckily I'm in the Desert .

Some times one does want to sell things off but no one wants to pay more than scrap value .

I'm sure when I die that my son will just call 'got junk?' and have them scrape my property to scorched earth, he has zero interest in any of it and the house is bad & worthless anyway .

Still and all it seems a shame .

:waah:

One of the best in this thread I think. I like them all and I like them used. I like to think they all like to work a little. They're all trucks, right?

Mine needs to get back to work. I've been procrastinating dealing with a broken starter bolt.

I gave my truck a real workout hauling these two 4x4s. Probably could have fit them in my daughter's CR-V, but where's the fun in that?
Felt appropriate driving my orange truck to Home Depot.

Didn't think to take a picture of the 10 foot long 1X6 I took back to Lowes this morning. Met 71ChevySuper (Doug) in the parking lot! We chatted and made tentative plans to go for coffee or something. :D

Just finished a 400 mile round trip to the fishing grounds. Not only did the truck run flawlessly but, I cant even begin to tell you how many dads would come over with there sons or daughters while me and my boy were around the camp fire, just to ask or look at the truck. These are the type of trips you can't buy with money. But having this truck and sharing it and the memories is what it's all about. Thanks you to everyone for the knowledge and patience with some of the simple solution questions I might have asked. I hope you all are making your own memories. Whether with your own kids or just for you. Have a great summer everyone and thanks again.

FYI
For those of you that enjoy fishing as much as I do. This is only half the fish we pulled in. We got 22 Chinook or "Red" salmon in 2.5 days. It was just a slaughter house of pissed off fish only in Alaska!!!

I'm glad you're enjoying the truck and adventures with your kids. But, that awesome red salmon has me salivating! It's hard to find wild cold water fish here. Everything is farm raised and barely pink and mushy here......YUCK!
