Re: '65 Chevy dually, "Braking is from unassisted front discs and rear drums."
Have you EVER driven anything with un-assisted disc brakes. They only work slightly better than dragging your feet. It has the big diameter master cylinder so, you know that pedal effort will be off the charts.

I worked for 3 different Chevy dealers in the early '70s, and have driven many vehicles with manual disc brakes. GM's engineers wouldn't have deemed them unsafe. YMMV.

Yes I have. In fact I installed disc and a manual MC in my 1948 GMC Panel. It was a pleasure to drive and brake after that. I think there have been mis-matched MC bores installed systems that cause the issue you wrote about. ;)

Their was a time when most vehicles had unassisted brakes and steering, they worked fine. I have a 62 cj-5 9inch drums and no assist, it will lock all four with not much effort.

Black canister; Dunno but, the Sub looks like a typical "crummy" used to transport loggers out to the cutting unit. Bear-proof lunch box?

Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

Oh I've seen that one ForestB but its missing those elusive hard to find seats.

Per the ad on the 66 GMC, it was his father's, and had not run for years, so it was stored. Looked like his father had an old Radio and Tv business as I can read on the side of it.

Helms Bakeries in Culver City, Calif. used 1950's and 1960's Chevy Panels to deliver 700 tons of bakery goods directly to consumers per week. Does anyone else have one of these trucks? The original paint was a light yellow and there were wood cabinets inside. All the cabinets and Helms accessories were gone by the time I bought my 1961 in 1983.

That's a great question Foresb!

What is the ratio of Barn Doors vs. Clamshells?

My suburban has barn doors. I know some prefer the Clam and it does give you more visible rear window viewing. I guess it's just a preference.

Now back to our show!

NOT MINE. Not a craigslist find but was dumping some scrap metal this morning and at the junkyard they have a 60 or 61 GMC 3/4 longbed that is for sale, no parts. Its a factory automatic v6 with an aftermarket air conditioning unit. You can tell its been used for a work truck but for $1,000 compared to what I have seen lately it looks pretty good. If anyone is interested in it pm me and I'll send you the location. And there is a very very rough 1962 K20 there as well.
