Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Right on. Love your build. Just found it today following another guys post. Good on you. Now comes the fun of driving the wheels off it. Although, I sometimes get the feeling I enjoy building em more than driving em. I'm weird like that, I guess.
Anyhow, I will tag along and see your truck travels. Post some pics of your truck "during" travels. Places and areas of your homeland we will never get to see otherwise. friend request sent. can't have too many truck buddies I say. |

So guys and girls, a little update....
Didn't do much on the truck besides some interior work, we, my wife and I made some new doorcards. Other than that, I've been to the Hot Rod Hayride in the UK with my son and a bunch of good friends. We did a pre-highwaytest with my buddy Mark, who had a leaking trans on his '72 Suburban. Put some trans sealer in the trans, drove 50 miles on the higway at 70-75 mph, no leaks anymore! So we're good to go :metal: On this 600 mile roundtrip we both had no problems of any sort!! And boy, did we had some good times!! Two weeks after the Hayride we went to a Rockabilly Weekender here in Holland, the Rockin'at the Drive In Barn. The day before we went I had to modify the towhitch (slide-in type) which was way to low  Nothing that a little grinding and welding could stop!! I went there with Peggy (my wife) and had the RV behind the truck for the first time...Exiting, but all my welds held :lol: Awesome weekend with old friends!!! I made a lot of pics and put them on Facebook. I set the pics on Public so you should be able to see them, if you use FB and are interested... Last Sunday me, my son and buddy Rene went to a local car show, called King Cruise.
It was a nice sunny Sunday when we drove down. After about 45 minutes it started to rain a bit....it amazes me how fast some people jumped in their cars and drove off  Also met Steven from Hoofdorp at the cruise, he's Steve-W on this board. He was with his pal who are building an AD truck together. Steve came with his '69 C10. Nice meeting you in person Steve!! Not a lot of pics taken, but here are a few of our own cars.. Pic #1 Steve's car Pic #2, 3 and 4 well, our cars  |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Cool! Ya some leave if there is a hint of rain.

Kees, bet you guys had a good time!
We were headed to HRPT St. Louis in a small group. About half way there one guy did a u-turn and headed home. Thought it must have been a personal emergency...nope, it was starting to sprinkle. Ha...what fun is that? |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
I am in awe of what you have you have done to your truck. The fact that you are in a country where that truck was not manufactured you have managed to bring the truck to what you want it to be.

Update in Truck world!
Well, really not an update... Been busy with so many things that wrenching my own truck leaves behind. But this little Black Beater is being used!!! Everyday! In the planning is a change of dash, I will be making my own with a GPS speedo and the gauges that are now under the dash. They are going into the stock speedo, the gauges and switches for the airride will go up in place of the old gauges. (hope you understand what I'm trying to tell...) Also, I have to do the interior, just have the sounddeadening in. But first my son and I are build him a Scrambler/Cafe racer. We bought a parts bike, that I manage to get running today :metal: I also got my own Hot Rod Shed for building bikes, only downside is that the truck wont fit, it is too long  But....I spoke with the owner and he is willing to replace the slidingdoor and set it so that the truck will fit with the door closed. That's all I want. Probably problem solved then ;) A few pics (so you remember the truck) pic 2 my workbench under construction Pic 3 starting up the parts bike Pic 4 is what I come short (sorry for the position, I don't get it right...) |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Oh so close. That cafe racer should be cool, a guy at my work is building one.
|
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Work area looks good. Make sure to post up about the bike build...Jim
|
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Nice set up Kees. Good to see you posting again!
|
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Thanks guys!
The shed is 20 feet wide x 16,5 feet long, as Lower said, so close :lol: That something else as 40 x 60 as I saw in a thread a few days ago  I live in the middle of a small city, we don’t have the space around our house as I often see at your properties in the US. I do not have the space at my house, only a small shed where I have two motorbikes, it’s almost full now. Working on bikes is possible but you have to move things around all the time. With my body I’ve had it with that! So we have to manage with what we can get. I rent this for very few dollars, so I am happy with it. The small problem of the truck not fitting in is being solved in the near future. But, finally have my own place :metal: As soon as we begin with the bike, I’ll post pics of it. |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
You could always just cut off the front of an old truck and weld it into the garage door so its fits your front end......
well maybe not! |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Or just shorten the bed as everybody else is doing lately  Well, don’t think so :banghead: |

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Hi guys and gals!!
How y'all doing?? Haven't been here lately, but I let you know I'm still alive! Had some serious health/brain problems and for the last few weeks very busy again with my sons motorbike. Also last December I had my buddy Rene's '29 A-Model through the inspection for registration, it now has got a legal registraton with a Ford Flathead V8!! Now we can go ahead and make this a real nice little Hot Rod! Hope I stay in reasonable shape to get things done, my son also bought a Ford Mustang that nobody wants.... a 1977 Mustang II Ghia with a 302 and an automatic. Only thing is the rear mainseal leaks very hard. But we'll fix that.:metal: Drives good tho!! Truck is used alsmost every day, and have to say, it drives very nice. Some things have to be modified, such as the rear bags, when you set it low the bags thouch the frame rails, I don't want this to happen. Maybe modify it so that it's again lower when parked...;)Then I have to re-route the exhaust again  Dash is going to be updated, drawings for an aluminium toneaucover are ready and I still have to do interior work. Lots to be done, so if body allows, I won't be sitting still :metal: Pics are coming of all things I do if you like.. |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
I hope your brain is good now! Looking forward to your updates.
|
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Kees, You still doing ok?
Haven't heard or seen you around the site for awhile. Hope all is well. Mark |
Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed
Mark!
Thank you for thinking about me! Really appreciate it! I’ve got some bad times, now we have very good times :metal: But did post on FB and Instagram inbetween :mm: True, I haven’t been here for a while, busy with myself ( not good) and with my buddy’s, that’s good. Making plans, driving the wheels of off the truck, been to Germany and on the way back blown two rear bags off :lol: so had to drive the last 85 miles without rearsuspension, tricky..... But I solved that problem, won’t happen again! Did some meetings over the last few months. Tomorrow I have a stand on Rockin’ at the Drive In Barn with my pinstripe art. This is a rockabilly weekender in Holland, with lots of music, art show, car show, good friends...looking forward to that! Also making plans for next year, some great meetings, Hangar Rockin in Switzerland and Cry Baby in France. I’ve also been given a ticket to the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender next year in Vegas, from my kids!! How cool is that!! Going there with my son:metal: Then I want to do some changes to the truck, hope to do that in wintertime. So, still alive most of the time! I will try and catch up with you guys in the following weeks! Thanks again for checking me out ;) |
