Going to be a slow recovery but a little improvement every day. Going to be at least another couple months before I can do any work on my truck. I've been keeping up on every ones build threads just not replying. Pain is pretty much gone other than some residual from my previous nerve damage. I notice it more right now as I'm not able to be as active as I was before which helped to keep my mind off of it. Should be back to my normal after I get into physical therapy in the next few weeks. Re: My 57 Pro Street

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Sorry to hear of the 'pains of age'... with you my friend... but keep the faith and it will be better soon. Truck building is no longer fun if it causes you pain to grief.
Im sore every night when I come in from working on that damn thing, but its different than the pains that we have no control over. Get well soon. The truck will be waiting for you... |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Glad to here your recovery is going well.

Finally was able to get some things done on the truck.
I needed to fab a trans cover so this is what i came up with. Pic #1 shows a frame work i came up with. #2 Lay out of the bends to be made. #3 As I don't have a brake I cut 1" slits an inch apart. #4 and #5 Clamped it to my bench and made the bends. Worked out pretty good. Kim |

More of trans cover.
#1 and #2Tacked to my frame. #3 A frame that is welded to the truck floor with holes that I tapped so I can remove the cover (probably will never happen). #4 and #5 Sitting in place. Welded my slits up so it looks a little better. I'm using 1/4x20 button head screws to attach it. Kim |

Was also able to get the cab very close to being put on the frame.
I just need to figure what color I want the fire wall to bve. Probably go with gloss black as I'm not ready to purchase the paint for the entire truck yet. Still need to do a final sanding and seal on it. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
hey, nice job Kim. I like your bench mounted sheet metal break, it seems to work good.
it's -22C here this morning. not much gettin done these days. |

And a few of the dash.
Not perfect but pretty good as I'm no body man. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
now that's smooth. lots of guys are installing a guage cluster these days though, haha.
bodywork looks great. are you full on now or starting back slow? don't wanna overdue it and end up on the couch again. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
The cab looks really straight, inside and out!
I like the transcover, suits the cab good, just as smooth. Glad seeing updates again Kim!! |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
NICE, NICE, NICE !!! This is what we been waiting for glad to see you back.
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Everything looks great. Really nice work there
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Really nice work Kim and good to see you back at it, Love the smoothed out dash too, really different.
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Not over doing it for now. Try to get in an hour or two as time and my body permits. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
it is coming along nice. that is how it gets done, an hour at a time. if you're lucky you don't have to put it all away in between the work times. that is half my problem. it takes me more time to dig it out and get started and then clean up after working than the time I get to work on it. right now I am just looking at it because of the shoulder surgery.
an hour a ta time and you'll be driving it soon. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, nice work and I really like the detail for the transmission cover. That gives me ideas for mine. Thanks for sharing.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Good to hear your slowly getting back at it. Trans cover turned out really good, cab looks nice so far. You could always paint the fire wall dark gray? Something a bit different than black.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Man, everything looks great, Kim! If you're, "not a body man" you're doing a helluva good impression of one, ha ha.
What will you use for gauges on your dash? I thought long & hard about smoothing my dash but leaving the hump instead of the '55 car dash. In fact I almost went with it when the first deal I found on a car dash fell through. Really looking forward to how you finish it. Maybe I missed it - do you have a final color in mind? I ask because with all the nice custom work you're doing it would be nice to have your firewall and inner fenders match the outside - but that's just my opinion and you know what those are worth, ha ha! |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

If you want to get fancy and since your firewall is flat a cool idea might be a big engine turned panel adhered to the surface (Man, we're good at spending other guy's money, huh?) |
