Hi Modge, Up with the roosters today! Read your entire build thread. Fantastic! The Jet Stream blue is an awesome color choice and the detail you put into everything you do... in two words CRAZY SKILLS! Thanks for sharing the details

Gary,
Thanks for stoppin in!
It was a long process for me to pick the color, I appreciate your comments.
I hate to say it, but if I feel it is not perfect, I try harder, or do it again.
I make huge blunders, but I don't always post them...

Thanks a bunch!
I cannot wait to get it closer to finished either!
It seems that at this stage everything costs so much to do, and doesn't happen quick enough!

Really?
Am I workin for you now? LOL!
I got a lot on my plate now that my son landed a job in Portland Oregon...
We spent most of the day putting upper & lower front control arms, & frt & rr brake pads & rotors on his Passat for the cross country trip.
But, I had a little bit of time while I was waiting for him this morning, so I dropped the box on the truck!!!
I have to make some adjustments yet, as I am not quite sold with the way that the body-lines look right now, but everything seems to fit!!!

Well, the whole truck is smooth, thats a given, you don't need me to tell you that.
Nice Job, imagine what you would of done if this truck was a truck that you had expected........lol "My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!"

Thanks Chris,
Every time that I look at this truck I am happier with the wheel choice, but they took a HUGE bite out of my wallet!!!

Thanks man!
My whole focus on this build was to give a wake-up call to my dad & his buddies. The more that they gave me $hit, and asked when it would be done, I kicked it up another notch! LOL!

Ha-Ha-Ha!
You have just focused on my favorite parts of the truck...Whenever someone is behind me, all that they can do is look at is how clean that it looks!

Smooth?...Just wait till I DA this thing with #3000 grit, & wheel it!!!!
We're talkin sexy now!!!

Thanks a bunch Travis!!!!
The wheels are no less than as you described...PERFECT!!!
I am totally happy with the effect that they give the truck's look!
For everyone to know!!! This cat knows his $hit!...I am truly happy with the technical direction that Travis gave me with the wheels. He caught some of my mistakes in reference to backspacing & widths..But before they were actually ordered!
If you want it right the 1st time, work with the right person!!

Wheels look awesome, love the choice. I also like how the rear is all smoothed out with no chains. I hope to steal that mod in the future. You make it look so easy!

Let me know if you ever bring the truck to an event in the Detroit area, I would love to see it in person, I am sure your pictures do not do it justice, even with the tripod... lol.

Thanks Matt!
Making everything look so smooth is not an easy task...A bunch of work went in to making it look that way! Thanks for the comments.
I have always wanted to do the Woodward cruise...Had no idea that it was this weekend, but I guess that there is always next year!

Chad,
I have been so busy with other things that I have been pushing that issue off to the side. I have some ideas, but I got to do some more research before I decide. More than likely, I will put a filler in the top of the tank & plug the existing opening....I just gotta find the right gas-cap filler to satisfy me! LOL!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

Now that I have my wheels & the box on, I have decided to finish the exhaust!
The original plan was to run it out the side just ahead of the rear tires...But once that I did, I decided that it looked unfinished to me.
I couldn't seem to come up with a good way to get past the rear axle when the truck was on the bump-stops...That, and the fact that I thought that I would end up spending countless hours fabricating it, turned me away!!!

So here is my weekend. Way too many hours trying to finish my exhaust...Well, half of it anyway!!!
Now I just need to make the opposite side the same....It is always easier the second time! LOL!
Here are some pics for you guys!

Tacking things together!

Hadn't stopped by in awhile. Looking awesome! Your tig welding looks great. I just bought a tig Welder also, invertig 221 and love it. Think I'm going stainless on my exhaust also. Like how you ran it, gave me some ideas on mine with the rear mounted tank.
I haven't touched my truck in months :m7: hope to get going again soon.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks Greg!
I just want to get the exhaust done so that I can start on the bed wood.
I would probably have the other side done if the mandrel bends that I bought were not on backorder...
Like I said a few posts back, I will prolly get the tig-welder all dialed-in at about the same time that I am finished welding the exhaust!!!

Good luck with your tig-welder!...I don't think that you can ever get enough practice tig-welding!
the more that I weld, the more that I try different things, and the more that I realize how much that I don't know...

Not really much goin on over here lately...
Been waitin for the rest of my exhaust components to show up in order to finish it, and spent a bunch of time with my son preparing for his move to Portland Oregon.
I no doubt will try to get some truck-time in this weekend, but had to post a pic or two to get my ambitions peaked!
I am not sure that you saw this one of my exhaust, I still keep shaking my head remembering how much work was involved with this...

And another nice driveway pic that I didn't post before, Looks so straight!!!!
I cannot wait to drive this Bieotch!!!
