Sounds like the add was written by a flipper or a relative of the guy who owned it.

Still if it is original chassis wise a quick wheel and tire change back to stock wheels (which are probably somewhere on that property) would let a guy paint it back stock and do a few things to have a nice pretty original truck.

Everyone who has been here for while knows that I think that the "patina" craze is one of the biggest jokes laid on car folk outside of laying frame but I'd rather look at that truck with faded and a tad tired original paint with no rust showing than a primer job that may have been slapped on it years back to hide something. That is what you did if you went to sell an old car or truck back in the 70's and 80's that had dead paint or what is now called patina. you sanded it down and laid a few nice coats of primer on it and threw a for sale tag on it with the fresh primer. You would see a half dozen like that for sale at big swap meets.

Still the real value is in what you don't have to do and don't have to go out and buy to make it nice. If it is as good as it looks that might save either a few hundred hours of body work or a few thousand dollars at the body shop and at the body parts peddlers. Sometimes our bargain trucks cost us more in the long run than putting out a bit extra to start.

Still on that one the pretty solid body and a long parts list add up real quick to well over 10K.

What a fool to do what he likes with his truck! At least he didn't chop it

Fake patina is like some of those psychedelic paint jobs that were a big fad in the 70's. Some stayed around in the 80's without getting sanded off and some got hid out in the barn because the owner while no longer wanting to be seen in the car felt that he had so much money in the paint job that he couldn't sand it off and start over.

Well said... I don't know why it is soo hard for people to understand to keep their opinions to themselves when it is a negative comment. If I see something that I don't like or is not my style, I just keep moving. I see no sense spouting off about it at great length.

I like a truck or car with some natural patina, that shows that it has been used over the years, but I don't think I've ever seen painted-on patina that looked totally real. Maybe I've seen some that was not real but it fooled me, but I don't think so. To me the worst is when clear is sprayed on it to protect the patina, especially if it's gloss clear. Not criticizing anyone's ride. We all have ideas about what we want and like, that's what makes the hobby great.

Doing your own fake patina at home is one thing Paying the "patina king" 10K to paint fake rust on your truck is totally another thing.

Some guy with a 70 something beater sedan sanded most of the paint off and let it sit and rust and proudly shows up with his "patina" car at local shows. It looks like what gets tagged as an abandoned vehicle here in town.

I full and well understand the concept of taking a truck that has what most guys call great patina and building a decent chassis for it and installing a great engine and drivetrain combo and even upgrading the interior while leaving the exterior alone. That might put a truck on the road two or three years earlier than putting the time and finding the money for the body and paint.

I'm at that point of decision right now. Do I continue with my plan for a chopped stretched and sectioned cab on the long bed frame or do I take my cab off the frame and use another cab to do a far simpler build to make a mid July deadline for a show that I have already paid my entry fee and reserved my room for.

.

If you think people don't paint their patina trucks just to save money, then you definitely don't understand the concept. Myself and others just enjoy the look of a time-worn truck more than paint, and enjoy the freedom of not worrying about maintaining the paint.

Some of us like blondes, some like brunettes. It's okay. Move on.

That might be the nicest not really changed from original 58 in the country. Correct valve covers and correct air cleaner and a day of detailing but not over detailing under the hood plus a gentle polish and wax job and you are off to National Chevy truck shows to show in the preserved class.

Yeah somebody is telling lies to try and get paid... look at the overspray on the Column mount, painted door latches, and the gray primer near the filler cap side and on the wheel wells. I saw this ad on Instagram too, trying to pass off as a pristine, all-original unpainted truck.

That is why you don't buy a rig like that sight unseen and it's best to take your buddy or buddies with the critical eyes along. I didn't study the photos in depth last night except for looking for what had to be done in the engine compartment to have it look original .

Well, evidently it already sold because the ad has been deleted.

Well asking and actually getting are two different things and the 28 K asking may have brought a high teens cash green offer.

Still that truck had a serious amount of "don't have to spend big money to fix" going on with it and paying a premium should mean that you aren't paying twice as much to a shop to bring it to that condition.

The "one of" is worth some bucks when it hasn't been changed away from original in anything that can't easily be changed back but that means you have to keep it as is outside of putting original pieces back on or you blow the one of out the door. A nice jet black or candy red paint job that cost 10K isn't going to work with the one of thing. Kind of like buying an all original Bandit trans am and painting it red with a brown interior . Or buying an anniversary editon Corvette and making big changes.

A pretty decent looking GMC hood and pair of AD fenders in this add. Items appear to be near Tieton WA. https://yakima.craigslist.org/pts/d/...389757136.html

The left front fender for A TF looks worth the drive if it works for someone close enough.

That is one solid looking truck. A bit on the spendy side but you wouldn't have to do a thing to it for years except general maintenance if you didn't want to.
