That's right. I was reading about these and that's what they did. To fit the drive assembly up front they had to reverse the oil pan and move the engine forward requiring that special radiator location. They didn't want to gain length in front of the 5th wheel. Consolidated tried about every way to get the most out of a truck, didn't they?
Attachment 1600656 How about those power dollies? That could get hairy Attachment 1600657 Attachment 1600658 |

KQQL IT keeps these threads rolling. I do a little now and then.
I never knew about those units either. I did read up on them...interesting. You should look them up. A Reo and some Fwds: |
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Love that REO. Did the FWD's use a Dodge or Ford cab?
|
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Dodge. I think they used International some years or models
|
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Thanks Tim, now I visualize that cab on a Dodge power giant. Thinking later 58-6? Ford cab might of been used there. Wow, I forget they used that Dodge cab a long time

It's the came cab Dodge used in the Bighorns and other big trucks many years beyond '60, the last light truck year for that cab

Now when I say "Trucks are beautiful" I'm not just talking about shiny dolled up rigs. I'm talking Trucks. They are beautiful, no matter how ragged, beat, or worn out.
Just look at the added style this A100 cab gained being a heavy truck  |

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
So not a Dodge guy, but the A-100 with a hemi would be pretty damn neat
|
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Yes it would. Do one as a super stocker. You know, factory lightweight Plain Jane sleeper. Ugly duck fast truck!
