Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Oh great wizard of all things driveshaft. I have a question. Can you tell if the mating flanges are the same for the transmission and the differential? Somehow I ended up with the differential side but need the transmission side. Since I am cutting the flange off anyway to mount on a Chevy, it wouldn't really matter which side I have if they were the same.
Thx, Dave. |

if thou are talking about the Lexus spin stick then Lexus goes out of their way to make the three prong flanges just slightly different, just enough for them not to mate and interchange , did you get the rubber donut with yours cause them donuts be different too? I think you can get a drive shaft from a none hybrid Lexus to mate with that transmission but don't quote me on it. |
Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Thanx. They look close but needed an expert opinion. I did get the transmission side donut. The guy who sold me the spin stick is looking to see if he still has the piece. This is where finger crossing is helpful.

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
and I ran out of line, I guess 15 feet was not enuff, so I gotta buy another spool to do the rear drum brake line run, not all the way back to the rear axle just to the transmission crossmember

yes we are going with a Grant steering circle on this truck, and yes I own 7 different Grant Chevy truck specific mounting kits, and NO none of them fit this steering column
this is just for mock up anyway, and will have to come apart for spring cleaning and painting eventually |
Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
I probably missed it..... I watched a couple of the videos... full highway speeds I am guessing? my other thought was get a tesla drive unit and go about it that way... so many ideas and so lil time it seems lol :D
Thanks Sean |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
So now I know it IS normal for the bell to spin a bit on these floor shift columns. Thanks for checking that for me. When it comes time to tear down this column, please let me know if there is a foam donut inside it down under that curved cover at the bottom end.

I also swung by Grainger [pronounced: "opposite of Harbor Freight"] and picked up another window for my media blasting cabinet, and oh my god, you can actually see inside that thing, who knew?
so then I went to town blasting everything in sight, no matter how big or small, though I have no idea what I'm going to do with these fender bolts now that they are naked? any ideas / suggestions |
