Does anyone ever organize any meetups or group activities around here? That would be pretty fun to meet with other truck owners.

Welcome to the SoCal post. Funny you should ask about meets. The post above yours Johnoro, he has a link to our next meet.

Re : WELCOME DAVE !

Indeed , there are many fine folks here , all different levels of interest and ways of enjoying their old trucks .

DO come to one of the meets , I like the Parking lot @ some Eatery ones the best , they're very informal and much idea swapping and help giving occurs .

:chevy:

Re: SoCal checkin' in

Those were always my favorite ones for BMW/Euro meets. The little ones in random parking lots. Just meeting with people, seeing what they did to their vehicles, chatting, enjoying the idea sharing and problem solving.
Would definitely be stoked to get my truck out for some informal hang out meets. Good stuff. Thanks.

Re : SoCal Meet & Greets

Hang in there Dave and keep looking at the events page as they have very nice ones indeed , the goold folks here know everything collectively and are happy to share ideas and solutions .

Wait'll you see some of the rigs built at home by regular guys ~ it's all very inspiring .

Some beaters & junkers (ahem) show up too just to prove it is hard to kill a CHEVROLET truck  .

:chevy:

As I have extremely limited Internet access , I have to rely on someone telling me whenever there's a local meet , DO NOT miss one ! .

Chevrolado 12-02-2012 09:19 PM

Re: SoCal checkin' in

Haha. Sweet.. Ill make sure and park mine over in the Beaters and Junkers side too so I dont get any rust on the nice ones... haha

Re : SoCal checkin' in

The dreaded tinworm .

I assume you know it's like fire in that it's difficult to halt until you understand ' The <Magic> Triangle ' : ferrous metal , oxygen and moisture .

So , breaking any side of the triangle , halts it .

Being a (damn) Yankee Farm Boy I learned in the early 1960's that fish oil based paints , like Rustoleum , encapsulate very well , far better than the Eastwood crap my buddies in Fla. are always cursing out as it's only good for a few years before peeling away .

The brush typ , dig ? .

That's why it comes in those nifty little pint cans and so many different colors : Farm Equipments need to be rust proofed regularly , ' patina ' is bull**** DEATH to any Machinery , old or new .

Oops ~ ranting again . not sorry though :waah: .

A hi torque mini starter will solve all of the problems associated with an oem starter; grinding, clicking, not engaging, heat soak... :metal:

Pissed off stupid yuppies who pay WAAYYYY too much $ for the same junk you can buy anywhere else for 1/4 the price....

If you're local to Pasadena , try the PCC Swap Meets , corner of Colorado Blvd. & Hill St. , tons of good stuff cheap , I don't know when they have them though as I'm too broke to go to swap meets now .

Made a front end decision at the half off sale at Pick your Part. Going to keep the GMC look since I got a great price on the grille. Now to figure out to get it chromed or just paint it to match the truck color.

Thanks Andy. The shine you see on there is from me using some Mothers Polish on it just to see how it would come out. Has a ding or two and a hole at the bottom. Which can all be fixed.

I was seriously debating especially when I saw the new grille was 500.00 new
and the 67-68 chevy grille for way less. But as you say its growing on me also, and I dont see alot of GMC on the road.
