Can you guys tell me where you got the aluminum radiators and what they cost? I have a 65 that needs a new one.

Got mine on Ebay (Champion brand, iirc), and they cost about $175--again, iirc. Mine has worked great for 3 years or so. Our garage has ordered/installed several for other ap's and they have served well too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went out for a late night gas fill up and just as we turned into the rather congested gas station, a 58-60 F100 was pulling out of the driveway. We spotted each other at the same time, exchanged waves and he gave a shot on his ahooga horn. At first I thought I was looking at my doppelganger! His truck was a black or dark burgundy stepside, had a full set of 5 spoke mags, and the beam axle was up in the front. I wish we had arrived a few minutes earlier so I could have gotten a better look. The whole encounter only lasted a second or two.

Ironically earlier in the day I spotted another 58-60 F100 two streets over. It was a gloss black shortbed fleetside. It had custom wheels, was lowered and very clean. Had I been driving the truck at the time I would have stopped and talked a bit. Just kind of funny to see two very similar trucks on the same day when I haven’t seen any nice examples like these in several years.

Spent an 1.5 hours putting in new halogens lamps - why 1.5 hours you ask to put in 4 headlights?

The outside low beams lights dropped in perfect and fit like a glove. The inside high beams however had factory tack welded "fitting tab" that did not line up with the hole in the buckets, these keep the bulb from rotating or vibrating. I had to haul out the dremel tool and find a cut-off wheel to remove some of the fitting tabs.

I then mounted the new heavy duty headlight hardness to the back side of the barbell. got all proud of myself and then realized I have to flip it as the red leads to the battery are on the wrong side. The mistake is a simple one to make. The wiring harness comes in from the drivers side from the factory, but the new harness needs to be hooked directly to the battery for power.

The white pipe cleaners "wire ties" are only temp. I could not find the pack of wire ties I have. I've probably moved them 3 to 4 times over the past year - now I can't fins them - go figure, Just as well as I would have had to cut the off anyway - small favor.

Mark

I ordered the heavy duty harness from LMC for $29.99

36-3580 HEAVY-DUTY HEADLIGHT HARNESS

Remember to lay it our so the red leads are on the battery side.

Yeah it took a couple of hours just for the inside of the tailgate. It looks so much better now. When I do the outside I'm going to paint it. I have never painted anything before so we'll see how it turns out. I'm going with flat sublime green for the whole truck but just doing the tailgate myself.

Sanded last night, primed this morning and painted the white cab/stripes today. I finally broke down and took the fenders and grille support off so i can do those separately, and put a new grille support panel in as someone had done some bondo work on the nose, and it looks a little rough and i just don't want to spend a week working on it just to find out it doesn't look right anyways.

Had a great early Fathers Day present, I was able to get both of the boys over at the same time to help with the fenders and hood.

Not a bad days work, even at 93 degrees! Still need to tweak the upper howl cowls and screw down the wiper transmission cover, but DAMN I finally got the front assembled!!!:metal::ennyd::gmc:

Jake I like that color blue it goes well with the white, won't be long and you will be driving it around. Although long time coming some things are worth the wait, and no one deserves it more than you..Vernski:metal::sumo:

Well since I did not get done tell late last night I am going to put down what I did yesterday. Work on my old 64 and got it running. Put the new intake and exhaust on my 66 also. Boy! Working on two trucks is tiring! But it was a great day all the same. Love the sound of straight pipes! Don't you?

Your truck is really turning out beautifully. When you first brought it home, did you ever envision it would take this long and the amount of work it’s taken to see it finished? And – with the years of effort and investment in it, will you be able to find the courage to actually drive it?!! ;)

Yep I sure do! Almost as much as I enjoy a 4 barrel dual exhaust inline 6. Nice work.

Mounted the bumper, I need to order two more bolts (or find the ones I had!) and the first lens. I need to figure out how to make the other lens get riveted or mounted to the housing without breaking it. It is WAY too rare to gamble with. The OEM factory ones I have plain mushroom head rivet, not the traditional type, where you pull the shaft though. I think they are airplane style, if so I have a friend who just built his own aircraft who has all the tools

Unloaded my wheels/tires that I just mounted up, and gave them a little cleaning.

Used tires off my parts car. The WWs were mounted to the inside, so they have never been cleaned.

If you have WWs, make sure you buy some of this. Never use something abrasive like steel wool, it only makes scratches that catch more dirt.

A little time with the pressure washer...

And, a sneak preview with the caps:

Think I should add trim rings?
