And here is after, I need to get a better buffing wheel for my drill or Dremel so I can finish the rest of the firewall

That looks pretty nice. When I built my hotrod 39 Chevy Truck, I buffed out the firewall one evening and it came out great! Had to many holes in the firewall that I didn't need, and ended up welding them all shut, which ruined the paint. I ended up painting it. You keeping the paint, or using new? I enjoy watching this.

Thanks man, I think I'm going to preserve the paint on the firewall since it has the original chalk markings on it and the paint isn't bad. The rest of the truck However will be repainted the same colour as the firewall

Thanks bill, it sure does look good. It'll look even better when it matches the rest of the truck when it gets painted :chevy:

Been spending the past two days cleaning and painting the engine. First I sraped just over 3 lbs of dirt and grease of the engine then I wire-wheeled it and then gave it a wash. The original colour for the 261 is actually almost the same as John Deere green so I used some tractor and implement paint, it's real tough stuff, oil and gas proof and high temp resistant.

Thanks Jim, yep it definitely will look much better than the old pile of dirt and grease it used to be.

Thanks Anthony, I'm planning putting quite a few coats on so if something spills on it I can just wipe it right off. Once the painting is done I'm going to do some pin striping and decals on it

Thanks rian, so do I. I'm painting some parts dark blue so it should go well with the green

Have been working on engine paint and got lots more coats of green on. The cast iron is glossy smooth and if I get any grease on it I should be able to just wipe it off. I can see my reflection in some parts:chevy:

I detailed the "captains bars" and the ID number so they are easily visible. This is to prove all the old guys wrong at the carshows that say "it's probably not a 261 and if it is it's not original to your truck". Now I'll be able to prove them wrong

I also used the blue for some stripes on the valve cover.

Very cool engine colors. Did you prime it first or just shoot it with implement paint?

Thanks Ben, I made sure it was super clean and shot it with the implement paint. I've probably done about 10 coats by now.

Drove 4hrs down to Vancouver today to pick up my 60 gmc hood I bought a few months back. It's actually really straight other than one good sized ding and there's also one small rust spot. I'll get back home on the weekend and then I'll start to do some metalwork on it and probably sell the old hood:metal:

Came home earlier than expected due to bad weather. The hood is now home, I've been waiting for months and I finally have it here:chevy::four::hot:
