Got my antenna installed today in the cowl but don't see the hole for the grommet....do you remember where it's located since you just installed that mac daddy antenna??? ;)
|
Right by where the antenna goes in the cowl there is a small hole like 3/8 just below the windsheild in the cab.

did your truck have a antenna from the factory or dealership if not then you will need to drill a hole but if you did then it should be there i would take the cowl panel off and put it all the way you want it then bolt the cowl back on;)

^ agreed!

don't want to thread jack too much ;) but it did have an antenna...so that's what is puzzling me...everything is shaved on my other truck so I never paid attention to where the antenna came out of and this one was done before as well of course...
|
Drill in the closest spot on the cab where the antenna wire is, you will be very close!

Ya might remove the springs and then see if you can get it aligned, but I'm thinkin and from experience yur hinges are worn out You can find good used ones, cant vouch for repops tho.

Hey Suville! Yeah, worn out hinges will do that but I gotta try aligning the hinges one more time.

that is what i was just going to say  if you take the springs off and it can be lined up good then you need new springs if it don't then i would say you need hinges..... its been to long since i did mine i had the same issue and i believe we went with new springs and hinges........oh and your truck looks AWSOME!!!!!:jdp:

Cool. That gives me a little something to try. Thanks for the compliments!

DO NOT USE REPRO HOOD HINGES! They will fold up due to thin metal and damage your hood and fenders. GMpartsdirect.com has Original GM Hood hinges, so they are probably still available from a local GM dealer (special order, I'm sure). GMpartsdirect shows the parts numbers and prices like below:
LH Hood Hinge 3911705 $66.64
RH Hood Hinge 3911706 $45.46

I have heard they suck too. The hinges are tight and seem to be in perfect shape, guess I'll test them by taking the springs out.

Meeee too! Thanks eagleuh1, guess you are talkin about the 55 Bel Air emblems on the side! When people see it they don't even realize it's not factory badging..............I love that.
