Thanks, she might not be pretty, but she is my baby. I'm still trying to decide if I like the shortbed.

There are a few things you are missing. No there is no load leveling hitch. My truck is a factory heavy half (same springs as a 3/4 ton). The shortbed is properly balanced on the trailer, not driven all the way forward as most people do (putting extra stress on the rear suspension and reducing the weight over the steer tires is not a good idea in any reguard). Also, the rear of my truck typically sits a little higher in the back unloaded because at times I run a large topper and carry a lot of tools with me. The rear bumper is usually 3 inches higher then what you see here. It does look a little silly for the rear to sit slightly higher then the front, but it works perfectly for what I need.

Picture with the topper (you can also see how bad the door was sagging when the hinge came off the door.)

No offense taken, hope I didn't come across that way. I get a lot of people that ask me about my trailer loading, I am pretty particular. I run 4 tow straps and a safety chain, I get at least one person to ask why every time I haul a load. I also take the time to balance the trailer until the tow vehicle sits level, and attach my straps to 2 frame points in the front and a "non-suspended" point in the rear. I find this gives me the best ride and handing.

I had a tow dolly break while towing a car at 55 MPH, and a strap break on my trailer while towing a car. I also picked up 2 Bronco II 4x4 trucks in 2 days and strapped them down by the axles, one nearly got blown over by the wind (extremely nerve wrecking, seeing air under the trailer tires while traveling 45 MPH, new shorts were in order) and the other nearly rolled off the trailer on a curvy road (sway bars were later found to be damaged on the bronco in a way that made it lean very uncomfortably in turns). I don't take chances anymore. I might not be perfect, but I do my best for my and everyone else's safety.

Oh worth noting, the long bed weighs 5400 lbs across the scales, the short bed weighs around 3600 lbs. Blew my mind, I would have figured around 4400 lbs at least.

I understand the caution if you. I have the same issue, just never pulled a truck (blazer or car) on the trailer. I carry mulch, sand, rock, dirt, concrete statues, and other landscaping products. I keep 2 20X40 tarps and no less than 10 ratchet straps, plus 2000 foot of 3/4" rope. I just cant afford to have anything not tied down, or out of balance.

The weight of that short bed confuses/surprises me. I junked a old 81 F100 truck not too long ago that weighed 4575 w/o the engine. Id think that chevy would be close.

The paint divides in the bottom of the upper crease nicely...and the next seam down (1/2") is a quarter inch wide silver stripe. Still pondering changing the stripe to something that stands out more...green, purple, dark blue

Same here, GM says it weighs 3,800 lbs. That still seems awefully light to me.

I think someone should take one across the scales and see for sure. 3800 seems to be more in the high S/T10 range rather than a full size truck.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Heres a pic of my new truck, all I have so far is a picture of it loaded up headed to the dump. Its a 1995 Z71 141,000 miles, 350, fully loaded leather everything. Broken interior driver door handle :m6: 305/70/16s, and a 14 bolt rear, and not a spec of rust.

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4001_large.jpg

Truck was 6520lbs going into the dump and 5220 coming out wtih 2 4x4x10s in the bed still and my 150lbs. 3800 is really hard to believe, I dont think that extended cab weighs 1200lbs.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

My truck in race trim with the skinny and fatties come in at 3883 with me in it. Its had some mild weight reduction, nothing major. Weighs 3678 with a 1/4 tank gas on its own.

cttandy 09-24-2010 10:24 PM

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Yeah, a short bed standard cab half ton 2wd is really light compared to the 4x4 of any regard. I have seen others cross the scales, not mine, but they were surprisingly light.

shame I didn't do the fade job though.

trust me I did the 3 center caps before and it took me months to do a wheel, then once I did a wheel it was another day before I done the rest.

cttandy,
i like your paint scheme.you dont c many with these factory colors.in the pics it looks just like mine(medium bronze met.,lt. driftwood met.)theres another color scheme thats close, but the colors are darker.
anyway......nice truck.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

did I say yours had 22's NO, I said it as a generalization, IMO if it was ghetto it would have to have bigger then 22's being a 4x4 truck it have to have huge stupid wheels on it in chrome like 28's or sometrhing. 22's would be more for like a car or chevtte to make it ghetto since it could barely fit.

I mean come on why even bother posting and wasting time? Seems like all you want to do is hate, bash and fight with somebody and it aint gonna be me. If you must keep it up then pm me and don't waste board space and time.

This is the last time i'm going to reply...all i said is it had too much chrome..it's not bashing...So whatever

benoit454 09-28-2010 11:26 AM

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

mine as well, saying too much chrome isn't bashing but saying it's ghetto aint great. it's like using s slang term to describe an ethnic group they wouldn't like it much.

I could care less if you or anyone else thinks it's too much chrome, it's my truck and I like chrome, but as you said no I don't consider that bashing, but saying it's ghetto and some BS like that is IMO.

Again I was not reffering to your truck as running 22's I can read and see you have 36's. I was just voicing my opinion on what is considered ghetto to me, or what would make mine ghetto.

sorry for wasting board space or time.

I despise chrome more then probably anyone you will ever meet.

Some people like chrome.

I build my vehicle's the way I like them. You can build you vehicles the way you like them. Some guy's like skinny girls. Some guy's like me, want a little padding and something to hang onto. Potato, Potahto.......

That said, let's move on now please. Thank You

dude nobody said your truck was ghetto so drop it.

I would have to agree I like chrome and I build it how I want it.

now somebody post up some new pics, this thread needs more pic action.

Don't make me post more chrome pics!!! lol.
