I appreciate the jealousy!! It will get done one day, it's all up to the engine builder now and I'm just along for the ride.

Let's see what the builder does. If he starts sittin on his laurels and wastin time finding a block I would be interested. The oil tube in the front is just the type of manifold I have (old school) so it would probably work. Keepin my fingers crossed that an old one pops up. We are heading to San Antonio in the morning and should be gettin back Saturday evening, but would like to catch up with ya. May get up to your neck of the woods one weekend soon to see your new stuff and your project!

HAHAHHA!! I'll do my best not to scratch YOUR truck! I really appreciate the offer on the block, too bad it's a little far. Going to finish pulling the engine tomorrow or Tuesday, then we'll see how fast I get another.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Have not got the engine all the way out because I do not have an engine waiting for the transplant. The engine builder told me yesterday that he has located (2) 327's and was going to look at them both then decide which one was best. So maybe he is actually trying! I'll have the engine out this weekend with some pics.

Slick... I know this is a little off subject of the current conversation but I wanted to ask you about the plastic fuel cel you got from summit. How do you like it? What made you go with a plastic cel instead of steel or aluminmunmunmun?

I like it and went with it for several reasons. It is never going to rust for one, and it has a much cleaner look than a Blazer tank. There are a couple of things I would have done differently lookin back, but I am still happy with the outcome. One thing that could have made things a bit easier for the fuel filler neck tube would have been to cut a new hole on the driver back corner of the tank so the filler neck would be shorter, and easier to route (I cut one crossmember on the bed bottom). The original cap could stay in place and use another cap for the new hole. May cost about $30 dollars more, but after all the customizing, $30 would have been cheaper.

Hey Slick. I have the same tank you do and now after seeing how you done things its going to help me better off figure out how I will be able to do this. and as you suggested cutting a new hole may be the way to go, well thats my exact thoughts and the way I will go about it. Thanks for all the info on that and pictures helped a great deal.

Cool! It will make a cleaner install for you in the long run. I have not had any issues with fuel splashback or anything so far. Keep in mind while mounting it that you may have to drop the tank from under the bed to get at the sending unit one day, it would suck to have to remove the bed to do that.

Got a little done yesterday, headers, waterpump, radiator, manifold, valvecovers, fuel pump, battery cables, power steering pump, and all of the motor mount bolts are now removed. Still have the oil pressure tube and the tranny bolts and that's it, she'll be out tomorrow.

Talked to the engine builder today and he said go ahead and pull the engine cause he should have my block as soon as tonight. We'll see. I decided to go ahead and get the engine out so I can clean everything up while I am waiting. My oldest brother Mike helped me a little so it made things a little easier.

I know, I know. Ronnie doesn't stop sanding his 39 coupe if my truck is uncovered, and he blows the shop out with a backpack blower. I don't think he would do that sh*t if his Cutlass was in there.

Really anxious since I went to the carshow last night. Lot's of our trucks were there. I met a forum member there also, 77chris03 and Brittany. You can see all the trucks at this thread - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=395691&page=4

I think I spoke to soon on the engine. He has not contacted me nor has he picked up my engine. Guess it's time to make another trip over there to build the fire back up because nothing is going to happen unless I stay on him about it.

All the innards that I currently have are going into it, so it will not be getting anymore horses. : ( I think maybe it's time to have him weld it and move on.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I had to make an executive decision today. Either I could wait for the engine builder to find me another 66 Corvette block or keep mine and let him weld the small crack. After a month of looking for a good block I decided to let him weld it. He should be picking up my engine in the next couple of days and have it back to me soon........hopefully.

Hey man, sorry to hear about all the engine trouble. So what was the deal? Was the crack something you and the builder missed? Sorry if you already said. Where is the crack? what is the plan for welding? some kind of silicon bronze tig, braze or standard arc? Cast welding can be a pain at times. Good Luck!

Cool seeing your truck on the Mar-K website.

It'll work out, and trust that I have already thought about going to court over this. He is good, just super slow.

Cool seeing your truck on the Mar-K website.

It was a hairline crack just above the timing chain cover. I don't think he magnafluxed the block as he said, then again it is in an odd place. As for welding it is up to him. He told me that it isn't very hard, just heat it to above 1200degrees and weld it, so that is all the specs he gave me.
I was happy to see my "unfinished" truck on a website, thought that was pretty cool too!
