Wet Nasty day today, so when the wife and dog started watching the Puppy Bowl, I made my way to the shed and built a couple of custom tattoo machine foot switches… One of my fellow artists, wanted the Rat Trap one and showed me a pic of a Wrench one, so… Here's the one I fashioned for me… Nevermind the bird poop welding...:haha: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8614/...8c3ed0aa_b.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr Rear View of the Electrical hookups… https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7283/...5cf9500b_b.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr …and a few pics of the Rat Trap one for my friend Klown… Here's the artwork… https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7395/...e91aed88_b.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr Finished product… https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8620/...7d17280d_b.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr Now it's time to watch the Super Bowl...:chevy: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Highly impressive progress Don.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Thanks for checking in...:mm:
Gotta get some upper and lower Rear Spring Mounting Bolts and hardware as the Rust monster has used the past 50 years to slowly gnaw at these bolts... https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7407/...2cbee521_z.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr Aiming to get this transformed into a roller this weekend...:metal: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Looking good!
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
All that hard work is starting to pay off.
Looking reeeal nice. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Very nice brother!!!! It won't be long you will have that beast on the road. :metal::metal:
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Thanks Guyz...:mm:
Had a bit of a setback...:banghead: Seems in my rush to get the steering box mounted, I measured something wrong… When I started to find the right placement for the center link, I found that no matter where I place it the pitman arm is a bit low...:dohh: After another trip to look at the old bent frame, it seems I need to raise the rear of the box about a quarter of an inch… That should eliminate the Tie Rod rubbing the Lower control arm issue that I found after getting the box and adapter plate bolted and welded in place...:thud: Note to self… Slow down and check everything before making sparks and melting metal… The Saga continues...:chevy: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
a good deal of progress this weekend Don. you got that roller going and it looks sweet. hope you have a great week...
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Thanks for Looking in and also the input on the cinder blocks…;)
Only used those while I was getting the Steering box mounted...:uhmk: Resting a sore shoulder from moving a wood burning fireplace out of a dilapidated house while trying to stay above the rotten floor... Grabbed the mail this morning and was pleasantly surprised with a tube from Grizz in the UK...:bann: Thanks Rian… The yellow Boddingtons tap handle will be a shifter knob in a ratrod I will build for myself in the future… The Bacardi bat bottle topper will go on the existing ratrod as a shifter topper… Mrs. Boss already claimed the bracelets as well as the beanie...:mm: The tube will be re-used to send something Rian's way...:uhmk: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Not much done today… I used the Bacardi Bat Bottle Topper and the small Sugar Skull as a Shifter extension for my Rat project…
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8629/...c6a402e0_b.jpgIMG_1513 by ta2don, on Flickr After the Shifter project, I pulled the Odometer out of the Gauge Instrument Cluster I recently scored and rolled it back to all Zeros... https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7394/...85dd0798_b.jpgUntitled by ta2don, on Flickr The next step for the cluster is to swap the white faced speedo plate and apply the white face stickers to the 4 gauges… I had already done the white face treatment to the original cluster… I'm also going to research which Tach will be the easiest to adapt to the Right end of the gauge cluster… any tips will be appreciated...:mm: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Pleasure Don.
As long as I can create havoc in your life, I am a happy man. Just checked in commented on your Ratrod project too. Thought I would leave more crappy ideas for you to pursue ( I have the local scrap yard guy looking for a decent donor for me) Wheelbarrow tub, "soap box cart" http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0y9kjsfr.jpg How good would that look on the back of the Ratrod, or even your Stepper.?? |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Saw a similar pic on FB and I have a derelict wheelbarrow here on the farm...:metal:
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Thanx Brotha!:metal:
…after chatting with Grizz, following the posting of the latest cluster pic, I may leave the metal plate black… Here is a pic of my original cluster in the white that I had intended to do… maybe too much white... Decisions, decisions... |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
It does look a little overpowering all white, maybe try lighting it up at night see if you like it...
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
looking good don, way to tackle the frame! cluster looks like it needs to be broken up a bit! only getting every other Sunday off at the new job doesn't leave me with much truck time, so going to be looking for lil to no rust parts! like driver door, pass. front fender, fleetside tailgate!
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
:agree: a little too much white.
Frame progress is sweet |

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
We'll Don, I have heard of traveling on a budget, but this must be the cheapest run around Paris, France you will get.
With Nicola and her daughter out to France last week for her birthday, I wondered how to share the pics I know some of the guys on here like to see. But they are all in high resolution, so emailing 125 photos in batches of 5 was never going to work. So I loaded them into a file on her laptop, placed my digital camera on a tin of Heinz soup, and had the works iPad play some French music next to it while filming the screen in the dark kitchen, after which I uploaded it to YouTube. Think a piece of string, a couple of paper clips and an old shoe technology. Mostly photos taken in Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur churches, and grave yards, including Jim Henderson of the Doors and Oscar Wilde the author's graves. Some skulls and bones of 6 million dead people in the catacombs under Paris toward the end. So here you go......... Paris on the cheap. http://youtu.be/VBAgJ1W5jKE I hope you have a glass of wine at hand and some cheese. Sorry about the not so professional quality. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
