I really like the design of your front end support. I’ve seen many where the main heavy tube runs straight front to back against the firewall, and would seem to be rather dangerous for the occupants in a front end crash. Your design would absorb a lot of deflection rather than sending it into the cab. Beautiful workmanship.

I need to scope out if I need to weld on the small clips that hold the end of the brakelines or if they will just pass thru the frame, other than that I don't think I have any more fab work to do but guarantee there will be something else. Always seem to need to remove new paint somewhere to weld on a project.

It finally stopped raining up here and it wasn't 90 plus so in about 3 hrs I hammered out two large dents, rough filled them with bondo-glass and shaped them back to stock. Fixed three rotted out holes and rough blocked the whole drivers side. Its surprisingly straight with just two little dings. Tomorrow I should have the drivers side done and ready for primer. The best part is when I lay the wire tape for the rhino it will end up sealing all of the repaired areas permanently. One other thing I decided to do is when I shoot the rhino is to shoot the roof section since there isn't a headliner and it will insulate the cab even more.

Well I had Scott "Jabbo" over here today, he got called out to work last night, so had a quick few hours sleep this morning and then came over by 13.00

Scott had wired up the Grizz-Pod Teardrop Trailer a few years ago for me, I had a regular light board which he then wired up to the Taxi cab lights I fitted to the rear.

When it cam to wiring the truck for Euro lighting, I contacted Scott to ask if he was up for a bit of abuse..... to which he thankfully agreed.

I had cut and broken some of the driveway this morning and mixed a batch of concrete to redo the bits I had removed, just wrapping up when he got here.

Soon we had the truck out, and this was the view.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps3755aeb0.jpg

I decided to mount the plug under the load body, behind the bumper for looks and also to keep it safely tucked out of harms way, so this as the result.

My mate Peter "Goose" with whom I traveled in Europe on our bikes last year and his wife came down for an evening BBQ and sleep over as they wanted to join us for bootfair in the morning.

We found via Vernier caliper that the US Spec 2" chromed towball is about 1/2mm bigger than the UK Spec 50mm towball.

So he suggested stripping back the chrome to get it to fit securely into the trailer hitch.

Some time spent in the woodwork shed, gently sanding the ball on my linisher left us with a perfect fitting union.

Of course we needed to get some photos.

Scott and his family had recently moved to a new house and behind the shed he found this......

Seems I have a spare wheel rim now. Just need to get a tyre onto it. Thanks Buddy.

Next up I will clean and refurbish the rim.

That's all for now folks.

Bootfair in the morning.

Got the green on the cab today after all day yesterday wetsanding the primer and white overspray down, and masking, cleaning, wiping, etc. It appears to have been worth it, i'm pleased with the results, especially since it was 80 degrees and 80% humidity for most of the paint job!

Fixed the front blinkers. Took apart the turn signal switch and found the contacts weren't even touching. Took em out and bent them a little to get them to touch and cleaned off the crud.

Gotta be my favourite ever colour.

Was going to change our truck to that colour as well. But have decided to stick to red. ( Can always do it later)

It's been a while since I posted anything, have been busy with work, family and my motorcycles (just picked up a new 07 HD springer!).

I finally finished up the dash and installed the stereo and got the clock working, also had the garage give me a clear coat finish for a good seal.

Decided to save money and not go with chroming the front grille, had my shop prime and paint it, I think it turned out well. Still having engine problems, not running as well as I would like, am going to get it checked out at a classic car garage in dubai as soon as they can fit me in.

Here are some pics from the recent work:

Still need to pick up a windshield wiper switch so I can get rid of the toggle switch that the previous owner put in there.

Also picked me up a couple of dash clusters that have all the gauges so I can start working on building one with the tachometer.

Had a little help from my newest member of the family.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Bought a steel trunk for the truck......

Right, went to bootfair this morning with some friends who slept over last night.
Got lots of bits n bobs.

Then right at the end, last stall, there was a steel trunk.

Asked the price..... Got it for £10.00

Been looking for a trunk to bolt into the rear of the truck to act as seat at shows, safe box for tools, jack etc and another bit of "personal decoration" to add.

Brought it home and now have to decide what route to go.

Outside is completely rusted on the surface.
Inside has been painted at some point.
It also has "The Times of India" from 4th of July 1945 stuck in the bottom, fairly messed up, but we want to protect or keep it in there.

Advice needed please How do I keep the interior with the paper stuck to it in one piece and what way is the best for the outside?

My thoughts are clear varnish inside and clear lacquer on the outside with some pinstriping later when I can afford to have it done.

Latches are all brass.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Wednesday evening I took the seat and seat belts and shifter and vinyl out of the truck.
Thursday morning I started installing sound deadner and heat shield.
As is always the case with me, I started thinking.
A PO had installed an A/C that hung way down under the glove box. I removed all remnants of the heater (here in Texas there's not a lot of need for a heater) and saw that I could slide the A/C unit up behind the dash to hide it a little. I need to figure out if I can hook up hoses to distribute the A/C.
The Carpet arrived Friday and sits in the truck now.
Can't wait to drive it and hopefully notice a reduction in noise.....
Happy Birthday America, I love ya!!

bj383SS, looks great. What are the wheels and tire sizes that you have there? Also where did you buy them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks 1964Chevy. They are 235/75 r15. I bought them from Coker tire. BFGoodrich Silvertown's They put a dent in my wallet but they really give the truck the hot rod look I was wanting.

I read good and bad reviews on Coker but most of the bad was from back around 2009 and I think they have gotten better. Most of the complaints were that the tires were out of round and the whitewall coming apart.

I bought a 5 year or treadlife warranty on each tire for $20. I get free replacement if the whitewall gets damaged or something happens to the tire. They pay for shipping it back as well. Just as good as Discount tires road hazard.

So far I have had not any problems I am very impressed as none of the wheels had to have weights put on them. Pretty impressive for 51 year old wheels. So obviously the tires are true as well.

The wheels are stock 62' Chevy 15x6 stock wheels I got from 62Barnfind.

It also rides real smooth and is much easier to turn now. I had 215/75's on 15x8 wheels. It was a bear to turn. The wife should have no trouble driving it now.

Can't wait to get it painted Satin Black!

Bret, sweet looking ride. I have been thinking about painting mine a black satin or a gun metal grey, I look forward to seeing how yours looks. What you got under the hood? and How is it running?
Cheers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks Russell. It has a stock 350 of unknown specs. Brother in law put in before it was parked. It has a 700r4 out of a 91 Camaro which I have read is one of the best ones. It runs real good. Has an HEI and Edelbrock carb. I only have one real bad picture of the engine when I first got the truck. I will take a better pic this evening. It is a mess under the hood haven't started on it yet.
