Today I hit a wall in the battle for the driver's side bushing's.....the cab floor hole and the bushing hole are 1/4" off and I cannot fit everything together right.

Just a thought, loosen up the other side and try to bump the body over a bit, i think thru the years the cab shifted to one side as the mounts rotted. When i did my cab mounts i left every thing loose with the nuts backed off, all 6 of them, until i got the whole set in place

Removed and cleaned my dimmer switch, now the high beams don't stick on. Turned on the lights to test it, noticed the dash lights worked, decided to test the make shift horn button the PO installed, and now the dash lights don't work...

Now I get to check wires.

Considering it sat in a pasture for years, I'm just happy any of the lights work.

Well I've been driving without taillights when the headlights were on. Couldn't figure out what was wrong. A few searches on this forum.... Undid the taillight housing, turned the headlights on and still no headlights... Then, by pure coincidence, the housing touches the bumper and the fricking bulb turns on!!! Found the faulty ground!!!! Thanks to all who share knowledge, advice and experience .

Got my new Lokar floor shifter installed after having to repair the mess on the floorboards from the PO. Installed new reverse light switch, replaced broken antenna, replaced broken speedo cable, fixed horn button and popped in some turn signal cancel springs. Was actually on sunday, but spent the entire day working on the beast..haha

Nate, I used safelite last year. When I called to make the appointment I told them to verify the tech has experience with 19xx windshield installs and then call me back. They did and made an appointment. With in 20 minutes they left with a nicely installed windshield. They supplied the windshield and I supplied the gasket. Lee

Ohhhh! I remember.

How about some "before", "during", and "after"? Like while you were doing the first paint.

a lot of the pic's of the first paint job should be on here, and I posted the damage of the storm. my computer crashed so I will have to look and see if I still have them some where, I will get the new ones some time later, maybe today. I will try and get some of the old and new if that's possible. still need to cut and buff the new paint, so it all will match once I am finished....

Made two inch lowering blocks and dropped the rear down. I like the stance now and even the traction seems to have improved

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I have been disappointed with the power and fuel mileage with my 72 Cheyenne Super. I have only recently bought it. I like all cars/truck but I have been into Fords a long time. I really couldn't understand why this 350 was such a pooch. I know it's about 4,000 lbs. and only a 3.07:1 rear gear but come on! Then I calculated my gas mileage yesterday and it was 7.4 mpg! So I decided something had to be wrong. The PO had converted it to HEI and I put a Holley 600 vacuum secondary on it because the quadrajet was long gone when I bought it. Today I decided to check the timing. First, I noticed that the timing didn't change with the vacuum line unplugged, so I got the vacuum gauge out and had 18 inches at idle. So my vacuum advance does not work. Then I checked initial timing and it was about 7 degrees BTDC. I revved it and it didn't change. I pulled the cap and rotor and saw right away the weights were so sloppy that one was kind of on top of the other so they couldn't move. I jiggled them enough to get them freed up. Put it back together. Set initial timing at 12, winged the throttle and it went off the scale (I don't have a timing light with a dial). So I took it for a drive. WOW :metal: it is a new truck! I'm going to get the parts to fix the vacuum advance and bushings for the weights. I am sure the mileage will improve too.
