Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Thanks guys :) This is my first "real" exhaust system install. I cobbled together the previous system before and after shortening, but it was no where near this quality; just good enough to get it on the road with no leaks.
lyriks, this is why I chose not to flip the TA tabs on the xmember like the ECE and CCP versions come (ECE is reversible; bolt-on, CCP is not). I do have a step notch and I will be attempting to run pipes all the way back  |

You didnt bend your own pipes, did you just buy sections of prebent and then made yours??? |

I was able to adjust it so the indicator is dead on in all gears. Plus as an added bonus, there's a whole lot less play now. Gotta rebuild the column to get it perfect...[/QUOTE] Well Frizzle you sold me. After about two hours of trying to modify the old bracket after I swapped out my th350 with a 700R4 I went and bought the linkage. I hope to have it in on Monday. yeah. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Mike,
Do you plan on running an X-Pipe? |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Mike I used the same Lokar linkage on my 71'...it works great!

No that's been ruled out. The plan is to run a crossover right in front of the tranny xmember. |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Not sure if this helps, but DR Gas sells them individually from what I have found..

Insane! One of the best step by steps I have ever thumbed.. errr Clicked through. I'll have to keep my eye open and see it on the road sometime.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Well, I took a chance on a local shop hoping the bends wouldn't be too bad  They're not usable IMO (mandrel is the only way to go). So there's $60 gone and a lesson learned.
I contacted Flowmaster directly today. They said they would have to make them for me at the end of a 3" run, but got back to me with a quote of $24.44 each. I said I'll take em :D This, and some other distractions including the 64, has derailed my progress on Tubby for a couple weeks. So with this new wind in my sails I'm headed out to work on the passenger side now :metal: I should have both sides hung to the mufflers by the time I get these. |

Absolutely awesome work and an inspiration for me to get moving on mine

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Incredible build FF... You are certainly a master of fabrication. I just wish that I could make a decent looking weld! Keep up the great work and I look forward to following along.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Time for some more pics.
The exhaust is all mocked up. I just need to pull it out and finish some of the welds, then hit it with some anti-corrosion coating and reinstall. The rear-most hangers also need to be installed, but it's 95% done. I got ambitious during the install and decided to run it all the way to the back. Good thing I have an over-sized notch (I knew I kept it full size for a reason ;)) I achieved my goal which was to keep it all above the main frame rails. The exception is in the very rear where it's still tucked up nicely and is above the lower portion of the fuel tank and higher than the lower body line. The only thing visible from the side is the tips of the turndowns I did open a big 'ol can of worms with this. Quite a few changes were/are required to make this work, but it'll be worth it. Fuel and brake line relocation, airlines need to be relocated (was going to switch to hard line anyway), Stock panhard bar mount on the pumpkin had to be removed/ground, and the biggest one being the rear shocks require a reconfig yet again. That's OK because I have another reason to do that as well that I'll show later. ...on to the pics! First the money shots, then the details: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1216375784 |

...and the other reason I want to relocate the rear shocks; I'll be running two rows of Buddy Buckets.
:but: The second row will be just the two buckets and no center seat. That's the arrangement that fits perfectly between the rear tubs.
