Got the engine block to cab grounds mounted this morning. I have to remove the heater assembly to get to a hole. I must be getting better as I only smashed one finger.

Took the 12 bolt to the welding shop to get the new Captainfab mounting perches welded on and pan hard mount moved over.

One step closer! McLeod hydraulic bearing installed because the 2466HKR Hooker Competition Headers don't work with stock arm and bellhouse. Had to clearance driver side bellhouse to clear.

today I found the left front hubcap for my daily!
they are doing construction on a road I drive on to work, and it was extra rough yesterday. when I got to work I noticed the left front hubcap was missing:(
I drove home, scanning the route, but did not see it... but then today I drove even slower, and out of the corner of my eye noticed it next to a fence , laying upside down and full of rain water!!
so happy I don't have to bang out and paint up another one!

Nice work. So what setup do you have for the hydraulic clutch MC and pedal? Please include pics if you can.

I used a Captainfab firewall bracket, CPP all in one master, Wilwood hydraulic clutch cylinder, McLeod hydraulic bearing. The chrome booster came from Tuckers Trucks either s10 or Nova base 7".
The 2466 HKR Hooker Compatition headers didn't work with arm and had to knock down driver side bellhouse to clear flange. This is why th hydraulic bearing over arm.
Stock pedal. Big feet can hit all 3 if you try!

OK, you showed brake stuff too. Didn't need that but it's useful to other readers.

So the clutch MC is Wilwood. Model#? Mounting info? Heim joint and pushrod from the pedal connection?

All the parts came with Captainfab kit. The firewall kit has a spot to drill for Wilwood and all hardware and rods came with kit.

I got my torque converter lockup working and I started installing sound deadener. It's 75% done. And it goes from the step in the floor, all the way up the firewall to below the glass.

That picture reminds me of Jiffy Pop Popcorn. The kind you make on the electric stovetop or campfire grill. It's not gonna make popcorn inside your panel on a hot day is it? Now I'm hungry for some popcorn. LOL! Nice work!

Keys are now Required and glove box stays closed!!
Lock set from LMC. Doors and Ignition keyed the same. Glove box is different but at least it closes now.

Interesting part was that the key I had would not turn ignition to Lock so that I could remove cylinder. put key from new one in and went straight to lock but then would not unlock, but was able to at least get it out and changed.

Now waiting for the rest of parts for wiper reinstall..... one piece at a time.

Picked up wheel dollies so we could position the truck to give us more room to work on the cab.

Took the cab off the frame and built a table to hold the cab. Welded supports for the cab and put it on its back.

Hope to start cutting floors up today.

Been trying to post an update since Sat. but I can't get my phone to upload the pics...

Bought a spare 250 6 cylinder, that had all the brackets, pulleys and pump to update the 66 with PS. Just need a steering gear and a mounting plate from Captainfab.

Also scored two 3 Nub wheels for free!

And finally got the 383 fired up again in the 62! got a short piece of video. Will try to upload pics and video tomorrow from my PC.

Got the mule to come out and play. Got the new (used) seats in, console redone, new shifter on board, then she won't start. Turns out to be bad HEI module. Luckily I had a spare, so the mule moves again. Man that shifter is sooooo smooth compared to the old no name one. I almost could go with a straight up shifter, but for now drive it and tinker with some other things like the kick panel speaker mounts. I just got a trial fit on them today. I had to trim them a bits as they are not a perfect fit for my 64.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Today started slowly....... Woke at 05.45 as usual, got up, fed the cats, opened doors and made a mug of tea, then surfed the web, had my brekkie..... All the time killing time so that I could get to the garage and make noise by 08.00 (That is Nicola's rule)

Truck time had been slow the last few months with the new job, I wanted it to take precedence over everything else, as I wanted ithe new job to be a success.

Anyway, went to the garage before 08.00 and cleared up stuff, burned some wood etc.

Having cleared the garage, driveway, advertised some stuff on Facebook, including the 1940's steel trunk I had in the back of the truck before. Sold.

I then got a crisis call from Martin, as he was trying to load his old V8 engine and gearbox onto a pallet, headed for the Isle of Mann where it was going into another truck. So drove over to his place with some cargo straps, wood, hammer, nails and then got that all sorted. Back home via the hairdressers and Coop.

Then rolled out the truck onto the driveway, first time in months.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspgmpjguy.jpg

I needed to get the hood off, but it is not a one man job, due to the sheer size of it, so I called Mickey next door to give me a hand as Martin would be around later when he and Amanda had done food shopping and walking their pack of dogs.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7krzjt6m.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbhk1x3ld.jpg

Once the hood was off, it was the hood hinges and springs, no idea how I am gong to get the springs back on.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskv6k0stx.jpg

What did I do...???

No going back now.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6bjuwcam.jpg

Look closely at Martin's face...... Who needs friends like this?

At this point Ta2Don texted to see if I had time for a FaceTime chat....... Replied that I was digging a hole, for Martin.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskchopieb.jpg

Once the inner fenders were off, which necessitated removal of the radiator support frame/bracket it became clear the radiator needs replacing or recoreing. So looking for a new radiator now, then the transmission oil cooler was removed as I have a nice new one that Martin gave me for my Birthday when he bought a frame mounted one.

Loads of other bits like the radiator mounting kit, new fender bolts, rubbers, seals etc will be ordered from LMC etc.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pstimxjsnu.jpg

Well, it is broken good and proper now.

Next up, clean the front suspension, engine, firewall and get it all painted up and looking good.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pstsrpvsr9.jpg

Parked up, never expected to go this far, and I do not think it is the end yet.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshjb9cygv.jpg

Still love my truck, and that has to be good.

Grizz1963 07-19-2015 03:29 PM

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

After a late, but good boot fair, some other chores, I got into the garage just after 1pm.

Pulled the truck forward, jacked up and put an axle stand under the chassis, then removed the front wheel and proceeded to scrape all the years of congealed sand, grease etc from all the suspension parts and chassis.

Not a hard job, but it just takes a lot of time to do right.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psknfgwtwj.jpg

A long knive, along with some scrapers, screwdrivers and a steel brush brought me to the point where the next step will be cleaning the oily bits with some petrol and then some Gunk followed by a pressure cleaner.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psuwjfqxip.jpg

After the afternoon cleaning the passenger side suspension up, I thought an almost typically American dinner would be a good thing.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2lj1ikek.jpg

Well, tried to post a pic of a BBQ but this one of Clem's shindig keeps replacing the BBQ pic...... A sign?

Now fed, and relaxed with Mrs Boss.... End of a good weekend.
