Re: My 57 Pro Street
Just finished reading your thread. Your truck is looking awesome! Also wanted to say thanks as you have inspired me to do a lot more sheet metal work than I thought I could.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Not so much lately.
Life keeps throwing other things at me that take precedence over the truck. Hope to be back on it soon. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street

Re: My 57 Pro Street
How’s the sanding been going? Not a step I’m looking forward to! I’ve been anticipating pictures.

Need a few parts like the radiator, drive shaft and some of the glass. Still have a little body work to finish before paint but am very happy with how it looks. Not going for a show winner, just a daily driver that looks nice. Unfortunately I haven't been able to touch it for quite a while because life is just that way some times. Hopefully I will be able to get back on it in the next couple of months and finally get it finished. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, glad it's coming along, we know how life can put us back. Hope everything comes around...Jim

I can totally relate on life getting in the way. I haven't driven my truck 50 miles since I took it out of the shop. Too many things to relate but the short version is we just moved after 20 years. Technically, I am no longer "Dan in Pasadena" I am now Dan in Glendora! My truck is still at the old house locked in the garage but will be coming to the new house in a couple days. It'll get driven regularly here since it will no longer be behind a gate at the end of a 100 ft long single file driveway behind an RV I had to move every time I wanted to! Let's see your girl, Kim! |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Haha, too funny Dan from Glendora.
Kim, a small step forward is still a step in the right direction. Good to hear you're still plugging away. Post a pic every now and then would be good to see dust on somebody else's rig. Lol. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Thanks for the encouragement guys.
Pics really wont show to much of a change at this time. Weather is getting better so hopefully can make some real progress. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Don't worry about slow progress I'm the king of it .

Re: My 57 Pro Street
High build primer also works great for filling small imperfections before block sanding. I wet sand the high build but that's just me. My garage floor looks like a black mud bog.

It works just fine for me. Quote:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I epoxied with grey so I high build with black so I can easily see when I break through. I am using proform high build and epoxy, works for me and I get a better deal on that than I would on slick sand because my parts supplier sells the proform line. it's always good to stick with the same line as you go through, for compatability of products.

A little update.
Got a radiator as a gift for Fathers day from my son. It fits a different truck so I had to modify the core support to make it fit. It is set up for an LS so inlet/outlet are on the same side. Was going to have to modify core support to make an original fit anyway because of the Chevelle clip. I will get some better pics of the support when I take it apart to do some clean up and prime it. Sorry they are a bit dark. Kim |

Also made an insert for the grille.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Looks good, thanks for the update. A little progress is still progress. ;)
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
forward motion, always good.
is that stainless or do you plan to paint the insert? a chevy logo from a 57 chevy car would look good in there. I have seen that before though so maybe you have your own idea. keep at it, you'll get er done. amazing how life gets in the way. |

Going to paint everything behind it black. Not sure what color for the insert yet. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice work Kim. On the radiator, I don't understand why, with stock replacements, the radiators are spaced out so far away from the core support rather than being set up close to it like you have done.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, nice update, like the insert...Jim
