This is exactly what I would do. Just remove the electric sender from your engine and run the new copper line to your in dash gauge. Done.

The H2O temp gauge will likely require some re-wiring as will the ammeter. Just print out one of the wiring diagrams posted on here and compare it to what you have and change accordingly.. It might be easier to purchase the correct harnesses, but that depends on availability of funds.

Funds are lackin. I still trying to save up enough to give you. Hopefully before the end of december.;) I will have power brakes and steering by spring.

:smoke: Interesting photos.

I'm assuming they were of an internal combustion engine nature and not what I first though, a whale autopsy?

Either you need to put your glasses on, or take them off (focus).

Mac.

It's auto focus.:uhmk: It's what you get for $50. Besides it's not the quaility its the quantity. Nasty crack happens when your not paying attention and screw the sensor in until it hits the thermostat.:waah: Took it to the blacksmith he said " no problem". Done tuesday. We will see. Has'nt failed me yet and the price is always right.

:smoke: And to think of the giant rash of chit I took for my five dollar throw away camera shots that were almost perfectly focused every time.

You can over-ride the auto-focus thing inside five feet, you know. I'm an expert with my digital now, but that goes without saying.

;)

Is he going to braze the pieces back together, or do they have some fancy cast iron rod now?

Said he could weld it. Did'nt think about the auto thing. That would fix the problem .;) Only thing is the camera flipper thing to change the menue is broke all I can do is turn the flash on and off. I did get a new cell phone but I don't know how to get the pictures out of the camera and on to the chip. I'll work on it tonight. I really do want to be like Allen.:lol::smoke::smoke:enough

Re: Daverods project 66

it's really easy, you just have to heat the peice up before you can weld it. then you have to heat it a little as it cools so it wont crack the cast.

watahyahknow 12-19-2009 12:51 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

it is possible to weld cast iron but it aint eazy
i saw sumtin new a while back it was some vibrating plate you could mount the piece of cast iron to to be welded on
the vibrations while welding took out the heatstresses while welding
after welding you needed to dunk the piece under in some heated sand to let it cool evenly .

ruffrida2005 12-19-2009 01:12 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

having heard about the vibrating plate, but sounds cool

Parts fairy dropped off some headers for the 292. Now all I need is a clifford heated intake and a 390. Trying to decide what to do about my inner fender? Keep the stock hings and build somthing around the tire? Get rid of the hinges altogether? Use Porterbuilds stuff? Think I need a innerfennder? Sorry about the pic being sideways. Still trying out the new phone camera. T

I did'nt see a big difference between them and the hedman ones. Well, about $75 difference. If they last 5 years I'll be more then happy.;)

Something you can do to help them last is remove that crap factory paint (sandblast is best) and paint them with some good high temp paint....a couple of good coats. I use "Stove Bright" brand paint on mine. You should have some wood/pellet stove stores down there, they should have it.....it comes in colors besides black too. Seems like Lowes of HD carries it too.

I thought I had some better pics of the 292 power steering pump mount that I did, but this is all I've got. I guess this one is better than nothing?

The guy welded the part ($20). The weld looks good I just need to grind on it alittle. Can't believe how hard it is to find that part. I looked at other painted headers they were all the same thickness of metal. The flange on the flowtec's was accually thicker. I think I will paint them with some better paint though. Thanks for the pic Capt. once I get my intake I'll see if I can make the power steering thing work. I've got a set of painted headers on my f@rd they were Hookers I never painted them or anything, going on 4 years. The paint on them lasted about an hour. They are butt ugly but so is the truck. Paid 5,000 in 85 and still going strong. Everyday rusted work truck. I've never had a truck or car payment my whole life. To bad its a F2rd. When I go to the ford forums I talk it up though.

It's my parents place, I built the barn and their house. They let me use the place like it's mine. I'm the only kid so I don't have anyone else trying to get there share.
