i am with strodder, bling bling. lots of work trying to keep em polished but well worth it.someone is making a knockoff of american classics torque thrust 2 they are using the american racing center cap i saw them at the pigeon forge tn rod run for 550.00 a set 17x8s polished or gray center. they were nice a company out of nashville tn was selling them but i cant remember the name. maybe someone else knows what they are.but whatever you chose they cant help but look good on that truck.

I remember when we lived in Canoga park Ca on a hot night we couldn't sleep because of the heat and humidity. We would get up in the middle of the night and take a shower to cool off. We only had a swamp cooler there, and it doesn't work in humidity. Here in the high desert it cools off really good at night. :metal:

Behind where the door rubber goes....Don't ask me why ;)
The rubber didn't cover all the factory spot welds.

In those days they made trucks really crude, and not consistent with fit. I had to do a lot to get the door gaps right on my truck. :uhmk:

that looks great, i bet your getting pretty excited now, sleepless nights, constant day dreaming about the truck, setting in the shop for hours waiting for paint to dry so you can put on one small piece of chrome to see how the paint reflects off of it. its great being a gearhead aint it.

Re: 198Plus build

that's weird...i can't see how the Lexus tore all the way through the side & didn't have anymore damage to the front...and i would think it would take a lot of speed to cause that much damage:confused:

chad64chevy 08-05-2011 09:33 PM

Re: 198Plus build

holy..$h^#!! i think she was speeding alot and ramped the bushes that why theres less damage to her car! the bumper and tires is what hit the lemans! she would be buying me a new car and i would take hers, lol!! she moved that lemans over a full parking spot!!

shortbed70 08-06-2011 03:00 PM

Re: 198Plus build

I would seriously die if that would've been my truck. Bet she just paid more for that lemans than she did for the lexus then had to pay for the other car also....Damn was she doing 60 mph? So Ronnie hows the cab buffing coming along?

They would need to use the jaws of life...to pry my hands from around her neck. HOW does someone lose control of their vehicle to that extent?

(sorry for the derail- I just get defensive seeing how much work people put into their classic vehicles)

and- fantastic work on the truck- been following this build anticipating the final, happy chapter!

Looks like the front of the drivers door is kicked out a little at the front. Did I pass the test? ;) Other than that I like it.

I've never seen that yet, until now. You said there is no filler, are you sure? That's weird that both sides are like that. What was the name on the rockers?

I just went out and took some pics of mine. My right fender is off right now, but I had it on before and looked ok. The passenger side looks like it flattens out like it has a buldge in it. It wasn't noticeable with the fender on.

198plus 08-12-2011 11:27 PM

Re: 198Plus build

On my drivers side I was able to knock a little filler that was there so it's fine now. On the passenger side no such luck, no filler at all. I guess I'll split the rocker in the middle and try to do a little roll in the center and see if I can feather it back in enough. Alan do you have any other thoughts before I go cutting.

Re: 198Plus build

I would try a 4" wide chisel and try to create the body line. It might eliminate cutting so much. Pull a piece of tape to show where where the line needs to be.

Re: 198Plus build

Maybe you could flatten out the lower part of the fenders a little. A little out on the fenders and a little more crease on the rockers. I know......easier said than done.
