I will take a decent picture of the old boy and upload it so that you guys can see it. Then you can see what has been done to it. Someone changed the original color to Matt black and I want to change it back to the original color combination one day.

My dads 68 has been changed a ton.

This is a claimed 40k original mile truck I saw for sale.
Don’t believe I’ve seen a 5.14 rear diff listed on a fairly light duty (3/4 ton) pickup before. Could be they quickly tired of driving 40 on the hiway and parked it with so few miles 🤓

Ok SPID experts- this is a truck I’m looking at getting.
I’m working off texted pictures so far, haven’t seen it in person yet but was trying to sort out exactly how it would’ve been.
—-I think with the 396, the auto trans would be a th400. What would the standard rear gear be with nothing specifically listed.
—-it’s listed as white/olive green. Is that a white top with green body. White body with green interior or ?
—-Anything else special you see on here that I should take note of?
Thanks Greg

This SPID looks different. Is this a Canadian SPID?

On a truck I'm looking at.

Thanks!

Lots of goodies, but if it was destined for Canada, it has additional equipment which I'm not seeing.

OK.
Sure is a strange looking one. Not sure what to make of it.

Spruce green instead of dark olive?
No wheel base
misaligned letters
different font
etc.

Probably an inferior redo of a SPID. There are better repros out there. See site here and search internet.

skrenly, This SPID is factory and correct for a 1972 Chevrolet built at Oshawa for the U.S. market.

Thanks for the INFO.

It does not appear to be a re-pop, so I figured it must be Canadian.

Which is how you can tell that it was built for the U.S. market.

Nice! Blue, one year older and .030 smaller bore. Other than that, just like mine. Same, but different, like a guy I know says. ;)

Re: SPID Picture thread?

 White with a black interior. Done. I can just see the salesman's face. "Nope, no power steering, no automatic transmission, no tinted windows, no AC, etc,...) I just want a white truck with a black interior".

Could well have been a year-end case where stuff just got put in however the materials were left over.

Then again, it's painful to watch AM/FM/CB radios and Firebird honeycomb alloy wheels getting the sledgehammer before being thrown in the dumpsters for recycling at the end of a model year.
