Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Colored puc looks great Don.
What did you use for the coloring?? Reminds me of those pics Nicola took of my truck. Your headers seem a bargain and have come out well. Had a busy weekend myself. Building this..... http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=1072873 And scored a block and tackle for the garage too (free) |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Picture looks great Don. like the headers got the same VHT paint ,must do mine at some point
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Your body work is looking mighty fine. The tail lights are really cool as do the headers.

Thanx for the compliment on the pic...:mm: I use Prismacolor colored pencils… That was a quick color study, and I plan on making a few adjustments on the final one I will display in my Workshed...:bann: Quote:

Scored a set of doors cheap… ;)
After looking at the amount of time I have in repairing one fender, I decided to pull the trigger on these doors.:mm: I will do some learning on my doors in the future. :uhmk: These are close to being ready to put together and hang as soon as I get the cab re-mounted...:metal: just gotta address the mirror mounting holes and the custom trim holes...:chevy: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Thanx Guyz…;)
After looking at the amount of time I put into the one fender...:banghead: Which was my first attempt at a major rust repair… I decided that $125 for 2 doors would be a wise investment. The time savings alone makes the price bearable. :bann: Plans are to get truck drivable...:metal: then hone some Metalworking and Body Skillz on the doors that were originally on the truck...:uhmk: Thanx again for looking in on me… Plans for a busy upcoming Sunday and Monday...:uhmk: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Do you want your money back? (haha) Nice score on the doors bro. I am ready to see them mounted!!!!
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Ready to cry in my beer !!!!!!
Those doors are a great score. Martin bought what was probably the only one for sale in the UK for $170 and we thought he had done well. Serious score mate. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Man you gotta deal on them doors.
I agree sometimes it is better to buy a perfect part rather than spend days or weeks trying to fix things. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Exactly what Bomp said !!
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
nice doors bro. can't tell about the mirrors but they look like car mirrors from the same period. you might consider running them.
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
I'm not sure which is harder to find, nice condition doors or a nice hood. If they are half as nice as they look, twice as much for them wouldn't have too much. Good for you!

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Great deal on the doors. I am looking for one front fender for same reason not sure I can repair well enough, or spending way to much time and not be happy with it.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
really great score on those doors! I would pay double and come get them, if you ever want to get rid of them!! just saying, lol!!
have you tried dry fitting the headers to see if they will clear the crossmember and lca?? liking the updates, ive just been spending some money since I'm working 10hr days 6 days a week!! i'll get some updates on mine in the next week or two for sure since im just waiting on the rotors for the rear, ive got everything else but the rotors |

Some progress made today...:metal:
Here;s a pic of the ram horn that broke… then the ram horns and the steel down tubes that were attached to stainless… :uhmk: Finally the headers installed, and yes Chad, they cleared the Trans Crossmember and the LCA...:metal::metal::metal: No pics, but I removed the Hood Hinges from the Inner fenders, and worked with Sandpaper… Primer…. More Sandpaper… More Primer… More Sanding...:waah: Rock on Guyz!!! :cf: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Engine is looking great!!
I know you gotta feel good seeing it nestled in the frame like that too !! :metal: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Love the early style finned valve covers, and those headers sure seem to fit in there well. Nothing says hot rod like a nice set of tubes.
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Man brotha! Those are looking darn good! I always say "Finned valve covers rock! :metal:"
